One of Çalis Carnival's 2008 fund raising projects came to successful fruition recently when equipment purchased for the disabled unit at Patlangiç School was installed.
The committee had agreed to purchase playground equipment for the school's new disabled garden along with a big bouncy castle ball pit for the soft room and modular tables for the disabled unit's two classrooms from the 24,000 ytl raised from the Carnival 2008 fundraising activities.
Members of the Committee were recently invited to join officials from Fethiye Belediye for the joint opening of the school's new technology department and music room and the disabled garden. After speeches and a display of dancing and music by the schoolchildren, guests were given a guided tour of the new areas by school director Tamer Karaca and later joined the happy children at play in the garden area.
Other projects being funded from the 2008 carnival funds include 10 university bursaries for children who otherwise would not be able to afford to attend, swings and seesaws for Faralya village school playground and a stair climbing wheelchair for a local rehabilitation centre. The committee has already purchased 14 tents for the Fethiye Scout Group.
