Calis car boot sales are becoming so well known that even the Turkish Stars aerobatic team flew over the last sale on Sunday to see what all the fuss was about!
Car booters, who had chosen to attend the monthly sale rather than the Olu Deniz Air Games which took place on the same day did not miss out as they were treated to an unexpected fly past at midday by the famous aerobatic as they performed their display at the air games.
Over 80 stalls attended the event organised by the Calis Carnival Committee, several of them selling goods to raise money for local charities, and trade was steady throughout the morning with some great bargains to be had.
The Carnival Committee netted a total of over 1400 TL from the event towards the 2010 Carnival and the Carnival charity, helping disadvantaged children in the local Calis/Fethiye area.
This amount was made up of stall fees, the sale of calendars and a raffle (this was won by tourist Katie Massingham on white ticket 498). The committee stall took 269 lira selling donated items.
If you would like to help the children, the Carnival Committee would really like to receive donations of unwanted presents, household items, small furniture, bric a brac, books, clothing, plants etc for sale on their charity stall. as we now have very little left to sell. We we can collect if necessary
.
The next sale will take place on Sunday 22 November in the car park at the rear of Mado Ice Cream parlour on Calis Seafront.
