Love Homes Update
« on: June 13, 2013, 21:34:32 PM »
A few weeks ago the 3C's were provided with a list of small kitchen equipment that the 5 love houses in the Fethiye area required.  As advised in previous posts, these love houses are just that, in that they are there to provide a loving, caring and permanent home environment for small groups of orphans or children whose parents are in prison or are unable to take care of them.

The local government has recently set up four boy’s homes and one girls home all located in the Fethiye and Ciftlik area. These are nice family villas and apartments which have been well furnished to provide comfortable homely accommodation for the youngsters.  Each home is staffed by three “mothers” who work on a 24 hour shift system and the atmosphere in the homes is very loving and the children are found to benefit far more in a stable home environment than being sent to an orphanage or institution.  Although they have the basics provided by the govenment they do not have the luxuries.

Recently the 3C's asked the "mothers" at the homes what they required to enable them to make life easier and to provide for the children.  They provided a list of basic equipment that they needed which included toasters, juicers, food mixers, deep fat fryers, steam mops, cutlery,  dinner services as well as nests of coffee tables - things that we take for granted but which make everyday life a lot easier.

Last week the 3C's asked Kadriye of FETAV (the organisation that the 3C's legally work under) to go shopping on their behalf to purchase this equipment for the five homes.  She was an absolute star and obtained 5,750 TL worth of equipment at a hugely discounted price of 4,000 TL - approx 800 TL a love house.  This equipment has now been delivered to the homes.

On Friday Peter Clark, Chairman of the 3C's along with 3C's members Chris (Mrs Rimms) and Linda (Kayakebab) visited the newly opened girls home located near to Kipa on the Gunlukbasi road and had breakfast with the mothers and the girls aged 11 to 14 who come from orphanages across the Mugla area.  It was a lovely visit, the girls were delightful  and during this time our group discovered more individual items that the children needed eg pin boards for their rooms, balls, swim goggles for when they go to the beach as well as toys and puzzles.

A few weeks ago Fiona (Firo) held a quiz in Uzumlu to support the 3C's Love Homes project and she has confirmed that the money raised from this quiz can be used to purchase these "extras" for the girls love home. So it off shopping again - thank you Fiona   :)

The 3C's have already purchased playground equipment and a chicken coop for the young boys home in Ciftlik and are planning to visit the other boys homes in the next two weeks to deliver games and new clothes that have kindly been donated by supporters.

Unfortunately but understandably we are unable to display pictures of these children in their new homes but we can confirm that they are lovely and very happy and we thank everyone who is supporting this project.
