Will the passport be valid
« on: July 20, 2014, 10:28:43 AM »
So....we are panning to come out from the 14th-27th August

Just checking passports and noticed the expiry date on my wife's is Feb 15

As I understand it we need to have 6 months on a passport which if expiry is feb 15 would give just a few days clear

Thoughts on whether I will have any problems?

Steve last time my brother came 2 years ago he only had 88 days left on his passport on the day he left nobody questioned it.

There have been new rules brought out within the last week or two regarding the length of time you must have left on your passport. The new ruling is you must have 3 months left on your passport from the date of expiry on your e-Visa.  Can't find the link at the moment but will post when I do.

Thanks both, then I should be fine. The visa starts on arrival (14th August) and lasts for 90 days, add another 90 days on this and we get 10th Feb. As passport says valid until Feb 2015 then my wife has 18 days surplus

Phew....

Steve, think you have miscalculated.  The Visa lasts for 180 days and you require a further 90 days on top.

You need 6 months.  When you apply for your e-visa on line, you enter the day you want to enter Turkey.  The systems will then calculate 6 months from this date, so when you enter the expiry date of your passport, the system will only offer you dates from 6 months forwards.  Try it and you will see for yourself.

Thought I had been dreaming but have now found the link.  Your wife will not have a problem this time but from 1st January 2015 passports must be valid for at least 60 days from the date of expiry on a traveller's visa.
