Title: Kimlik number
Post by: stoop on May 25, 2019, 19:35:01 PM
We’ve been told today that in order to keep our internet we have to obtain a Kimlik number.

I understand we need to take a copy of our Tapu, two photos, passport and maybe evisa?

Anyone done this recently who is non resident?

If your question relates to a Turkish SIM card which you had previously bought on production of your passport then my experience is that the ONLY thing that is acceptable is your Residency Number.

NOTHING else is acceptable.

The fees and processes for getting Residency seem to change annually.

It’s for our internet and we do not have residency. We have been told we can still have it if we obtain a Kimlik number.

Well in theory, ( and splitting hairs ) you will never be able to get a "kimlik number" unless you take up citizenship  ( I think ).

A Kimlik is the identity card every Turkish citizen has to carry.

The only number available to you is a Foreign Citizen Registration number. You get this with Residency ( called Oturmasi - I think).

Applying for Residency involves a lot more than popping somewhere with a few documents ( others will be able explain ) and requires large payments.....

If your Turkish friend is asking for a kimlik number it will be your residency number they require.

Copied from Facebook. I was going to get one but left it too late, as I thought it was fine in a day.

We were granted a temporary RP to get the internet installed last week. Passport /Visa/ 1×passport pic. You are asked to complete form and return next day for your temp paperwork to take to internet supplier xx

Well, I am going to be the first to point out that I was wrong.

Sorry

You can get a Yabanci Kimlik Numarasi if you have Residency. You don't need to have Citizenship. If you go to the Foreigner Police / Yabanci Polis offices which are on the street immediately behind the PTT and Jandarma barracks in Fethiye, somebody there should be able to help you.

KKOB that's what I was trying to say - rather clumsily.
You can't have what everyone simply refers to as a "Kimlik" - that's for citizens.

Residency gives you the foreigner's version with a longer name - Yabanci Kimlik Numarasi !

Like I said - splitting hairs !  ( Your explanation was better than mine. )

The "temporary RP" was the new one for me.

I think you can get a yabanci kimlik number without residency and KKOB is correct, the office to ask for this is in the street behind the PTT in Fethiye, GOC office. Mustafa, also known as inspector could also advise on this so worth a visit to his office.

Decided to use the services of Inspector once again. I’d rather pay his fee and get things done quickly and correctly.

I’ve seen various reports from one day to six days in order to sort it so we are going this afternoon to get the ball rolling.

Stoop,I was just wondering how you got on with this ??
I encountered a similar problem a few months ago and the solutions offered to me where a lot more complicated. I would love to know if there really was a simple solution.

Cheers

We have just come back from Calis.  While we were there we wanted to get skyfibre connected to the house.  To do this we had to get 2 bio metric photo's, copy of passport, copy of Tapu.  We went to the Belediye to get proof of address (cost 30 lira) and then take all the copies to behind the PTT.  There we completed a form.  We was asked why we wanted this ID number and said that it was so we could internet into the house.  We were then told to come back on Monday (we were there on the Friday) and an ID number would be ready.  Went back on the Monday collected the number.  Went straight to SkyFiber offices and was connected the next day.

Hi, @bells...sounds not too complicated except for all the running around.

Can you share the price and bandwidth/line speed you are getting now? Did it also require a telephone landline connection?

Many thanks!
Dale
