Fake alcohol
« on: May 18, 2019, 11:14:24 AM »
A couple of days ago I went for a drink to one of the bars on the main road in Calis. I ordered a pink gin and tonic. When it came it had a blue tinge to it, I tasted it and it was definitely not pink gin. I took it back to the bar and asked to see the bottle it had come from. They showed me a bottle of pink gin with a small amount left in it. The owner (I think) came across and said it must have gone off as it was last years. (As if). I then swapped it for a vodka and tonic which was fine. The original drink tasted like windscreen washer, not that I drink windscreen washer but it is what I imagine from the smell it would taste like.
Please be careful and if something doesn’t taste right question it and send it back.

Call me old fashioned, but why is there such a thing as a bottle of pink gin anyway? Pink gin according to the Bar Tenders Guild is a measure of gin with a couple of drops of angostura bitters added & that's added in a glass.

It ain't rocket science   ;)

Probably Liz, for the same reason you can get Raspberry Gin, Blackcurrant Gin, Chocolate Gin etc. It's fashionable.

Afterall, any gin is just a flavoured vodka.

Gin comes in so many colours and flavours at the moment, likewise you can also get pink tonic to go with the pink gin.

Really sad to hear that Ali's would do that.  Had many a G&T in there in the past - will be on my guard now  >:(
