Apartment extension
« on: June 30, 2019, 08:50:22 AM »
Morning all, I've just been informed by a friend of ours that our neighbour's above our Apartment have had an extension on their Apartment. Don't know all the details until we go there but we weren't informed or consulted. Is that the norm on a complex? Apparently there was a temporary law giving permission for people to do this without consulting neighbours? This has also caused water to drip from their air con onto our path outside our terrace. Faulty pipework maybe?

My understanding is that, nothing would be normally happen, but if they have changed things  from the original design and if any of their neighbours complain things are then different and the local authorities will get involved, but things can get quite tense with the parties concerned.

If the aircon is working correctly there will always be water coming from it. Perhaps the pipe just needs re-routing ?

Hi KKOB,
yes it sounds like the pipework is positioned in the wrong place hence why it's dripping onto our pathway. As we walk from our balcony steps this will cause a problem as the area is constantly wet and dripping according to our friends.

If it is an extension then permission from the council is probably required, definitely if is glassed in as this changes area as per tapu. To make changes should not require permission.
