I'll have the tail feathers if anyone finds them - they make great fishing floats for long distance!!

So, Jac
KKOB,

I beg to differ old chap, I have not, as yet, seen any attempt to answer my question more my than a comment from Jacqui Harvey that says she believes that peacocks should not be caged. Has nobody an informed opinion?

That is all I now ask.

TJ   :)  :)

So, Jacqui says no, and I say yes.

Would you like to phone a friend ?

What a brilliant topic!
Why not just put them [the peafowl] in larger cages?

Are you being served?

Hmm, funny. However here is relevant information: (you will please note that I never, ever quote any Wiki, the reason? The views expressed in such websites are personal and cannot be considered safe. I quote:

"7. When introducing peafowl to an area don’t let them out right away or they will
disappear down the road! The best way to acclimatise them is to pen them where
they can see the area where they'll be living. After they've been penned for a
minimum of 6 weeks or longer if it is a peacock with a full tail, let the hen out
before the cock bird, as the hens are more social and will stay around the birds
that are still penned up."

www.southglos.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/A9D5F212.../COS070025.pdf

Now, those birds have been there way more than six weeks, longer than six months, in my opinion way more than this august body would recommend.

Farmer, I will produce a photograph within the next few days and anyone who wants to can decide and comment( if interested) about their living conditions.
