I can't see how anyone can sell it at 2.5 tl it costs the equivalent of 3.5 tl if you buy a crate.
I found I was paying about 6 in April on average.

That would include a mark up though surely? I expect the bars buy it cheaper than we get it for by the crate.

2.5 is very cheap though.

It's nothing like 2.5. Buy it in a market and its around 4.5 and bars are around 6 or 7.

I don't think we realise in the Fethiye/Calis area, how lucky we are, in the Bodrum area over the weekend Efes 7tl upwards, in one bar we were charged 10tl.

AOK said he found it at that price. I notice he's not said where though  ;)

I take it that you can't get it from where the shops buy it from then? Surely they must make a profit selling it?

Last week in Calis Nil still charging 5tl large efes and 6tl for wine.In Fethiye varies up to 7.5tl (Effes in pastapeur.) and 8/9 for wine.

5 works out less than £2. I can live with that. 6 is OK and maybe a bit more if we are out for a nice meal. If someone wants to charge me £3 plus for a bottle though (9) I will have to think seriously about whether they get my custom.

Luckily I think it will be at the bottom end down Koca Calis way  :)

Maybe we will see some places offering a free drink with your meal? Depends on the mark up on food I guess.

Having done quite a bit of "research" on this subject on my recent visit, definitely an average of 6 Tl Fethiye/Calis, and for interest sake also spent a few days in the Kas area and it was an average of 7Tl in bars (but in most restaurants 8Tl).

Yeah - come on guys name the bars. As I said above - I don't mind paying a little extra for our drinks if we are having a nice meal but if I just go in for a beer I won't be paying extortionate prices for it.

On a similar note - what's the rough cost of a large (1ltr) jug of Sangria?

Believe it or not you can buy a jug of Sangria in Calis- just like you can get Efes in the UK  :)

Same one as me Amanda, I will be giving it a wide berth from now on.
Also for another reason...
They give you a big basket of warm popcorn... sounds nice... we ate half of the basket then pushed it away as we had eaten.
The bar tender then picked up our leftovers, opened the popcorn machine, chucked them in and mixed them up. Then got a basket full for someone else.

I suspect that often gets done with salted nuts also! I'm always wary.

The worst I think for me (and I genuinely can't remember which seafront bar it was or I would name and shame) was sitting inside watching a barman making a very complicated cocktail for a few people who were outside. Not being where we were they were very lucky that they didn't see the barman who was adding each spirit by covering the end of the bottle with his thumb.

After each dash, he licked his thumb and moved on to the next bottle.

Oh my gawd what grossness both the cocktail maker and the popcorn, ok the thought is there with the popcorn but I would rather not have it if that is what they do with the leftovers! >:(

Unfortunately the price of Efes 'comes up' far too often (it just never goes down   ;) )

Any chance of compiling a list of rip off bars/restaurants so all CBF users know who to avoid?

If you ask the price first you cannot be ripped off.

Cheap Efes is almost always 'advertised' from my experience.
Anna's bar was always one of the cheapest but when it changed
ownership (last year ?) that all changed  >:(
(And they stopped offering sun bed cushions  >:( )
