Apparently the european version has some additives that the U.S. one doesn't and there was a debate on tv about it the other day, don't know which one turkey will get or if it really matters anyway!

So thats it - sorted [:o)]

According to paragraph 3, they're still testing the vaccines.

I work in the health sector and we are all being prioritised for vaccination, but as some of the other comments state, there are some questions about a) effectiveness and b) long term side effects, many of my colleagues, (and myself) have opted against having the vaccination pending further clinical trials, as one doctor explained at the end of the day it is "flu" and, in many cases can only be a serious problem if people have other underlying health problems, asked whether he was having the "jab" he said no.

If anyone is interested, and for people 'at risk' and/or travelling by plane to England in the near future and feel they would like swine flu protection, apparently you can get the jab free at the government clinic which is near the canal by the Tuesday market.

I was told by the pharmacist opp. Carrefour that as they had not finished testing the vaccine, the general public in Turkey were not yet wanting the jab as the risk of Swine Flu here is not so great as in England and America.  You have to way up the risk to you personally!

We just received a letter from our daughter's school explaining about the jab and it's (possible) side effects.
We will not be giving permission for her to have the jab (only 10 kids in her class are having it)

I've read about it on the NHS website and personally believe the risks of the jab outweigh the benefits.

I asked my sons pediatrician about the vaccine, he is the head of Infectious Disease department at the Royal Children's Hospital (Australia).
He advised me NOT to give the vaccine to my kids saying "The vaccine has not been adequately tested in kids, so I wouldn't give it to them." He also added "The outbreak has not been as bad as previous outbreaks of regular flu, and there wasn't all this fuss in the past!". If parents are concerned it might be an idea for them to have the vaccine themselves as some added protection for their kids. Hope that helps any worried parents!

I had both Flu and Swine Flu vaccinations last month, only side affect was two sore arms, these wore off after 4 days.

I think it is OK for adults, but for kids? NO, I would not like to give it to them, just like the combined MMR jab for children, I wish that I was more informed over 26years ago regarding that one.

It sounds to me like this jab might be reducing the strength of your bones Loz. I can't believe your arms wore off after just 4 days.

No Heather, I'm still waiting for that request to come to fruition:-\
it seems that my fellow workers have no interest in acquiring it.
I got it from my local practice as I am on the at risk register (Heart Bypass opp)
PS
Had my annual flu jab a month ago.

Ready for all the bugs then, Mike?

My work was opposite I don't think anyone refused.  Working in a hospital and hearing about the people who get Swine flu helps to make up your mind.
