Natiowide Rip-off
« on: March 18, 2011, 00:22:07 AM »
As we are due to travel in 7 weeks I thought I'd sort out our travel insurance. As Nationwide have removed our free currency withdrawal I thought I'd take them up on their free travel insurance offer. Being over 65 I telephoned them as requested to get a medical screening. I was totally honest and declared 3 BP tablets, statin for high clolesterol, amiprazol for hiatus hernia and amlopidine for gout. I explained that in spite of these I'm in good nick as long as I take them. Outcome [?] A surcharge of £120.00 for a supplement. I understood that if I do not purchase the supplement I am still insured for anything not assosiated with my prescription conditions. You might guess I told them to stick it [:(!]. Anyway as a precaution I took out a policy with Flexicover for £70.00.
Nationwide free travel insurance my ar*e [:(!] However the Nationwide cover did seem OK for the missus who is 60 and not on any tablets.
