Just seen one of the transfer owners sounding off in the other place about the new terminal - apparently opening tonight but very poor access and no drop off/parking areas! Let's see how this goes..........
-
Sounds like that will be fun! : :)
-
I’m so looking forward to this at 10pm tonight - not!
-
Good luck stoop, think you may need it!
-
Wasn't open :)
Next week now ;)
-
Do you know what day
-
Looking at the pictures they have published it looks more grim than the last one.... :(
-
The airport published a FB message to say it opened last night. Not for us it didn't and the existing terminal was chocca!
-
We fly later today, wondering which one we'll be going to! Whichever building we end up going through I just hope the exit is quick :)
-
Someone on Facebook went through the new terminal last night, they were impressed once through security. The duty free shop looks very good.

New terminal is open. From what I understand, departure from here is fine, thought the aircon not when first opened. But the arrivals are something else, tiny meeting area, with lots of desks crammed in. Low ceiling and no air flow so very very hot, just one doorway to exit. The ramp down from the terminal is a way from the meeting point, otherwise lots of steps to negotiate. Looks a nightmare.
-
From what I could see on the video, there is a ramp just to the right of the steps as you look toward the terminal ?
-
I haven't come through here yet so can't say for sure, Have friends who work at the airport and going on what they have said, the arrivals area is not good. Just hope it is imprived, though I don't know this can happen. Seems to be a step backwards in some ways. Possibily ok if not many flights landing together, but with a terminal built to take many more passengers, that seems unlikely. Hopefully people arriving in the next few days or weeks can add their own comments. My sister is arriving at the end of the month so I will know myself then!
-
Flew out of the new terminal last night.Went through security ok. :)
Aircon poor, not enough seating available. :(
Normal bargain prices to be had in the bars and food outlets( 2 x 30cl beers = 88 lira or £15) :'(
-
We flew home from the new terminal on Monday.
The photos show the fantastic Turkish workmanship - LOOK AT THE CLOCK!!!!!!
Apparently the guy who hung the clock up has been promoted to head of aircraft maintenance!

It looks identical to the replaced airport, same horribly uncomfortable seating and stark decor. Hopefully the check in/security and passport control will be a better experience than it was in June.

'It looks identical to the replaced airport, same horribly uncomfortable seating and stark decor.'
Unfortunately you are correct :(
-
No updates or complaints since mid July. Is it working well after all?
My own experience is that it is.
Arrived on 10 September got through immigration and baggage reclaim very quickly.
Returned on 24 September when there were masses of people disembarking from buses and cars and the outside looked very busy.
Entry and the first security was very quick, booking in quick, passport check quick and the second security check again quick and organised.
What I did notice was that the majority of security staff were female and were much calmer and organised than their male equivalents on our last visit.
Even the pre boarding security check was better organised and calmer than previously.
And we used Thomas Cook with no problems whatsoever.
-
The flights of steps leading down to the meet and greet area are sure to provide tired travellers with luggage an early trip to the local A&E having not seen the sinuous ramp.
I think the new airport is a huge disappointment with the main emphasis on the Duty Free obstacle course - shame really.
-
From the outside it looks like a poorly built Hermes warehouse. Just like the old one. There are already lumps of plaster falling off the walls in the entrance to the toilets in the 'Food Hall'.
Security was good. Even though I was chosen for a full strip-out of my bags on the way home, it was very quick and efficient. They were well impressed with all the toys for the grandson and the 30 balls of knitting wool for Mrs KKOB. :)
-
I had no problems coming through middle of September, was really surprised to see the prices in McDonalds 40 lira for a double cheeseburger meal /, that was around a fiver cheaper than the UK service areas
-
Yep. I thought Maccy D's prices were very reasonable. And, just like the UK, they'd run out of milkshakes. ;)
-
On arrival the new terminal is *exactly* the same as the old but bigger, like they decided not to employ an architect this time, just got the old plans and made them bigger.
From end to end in departures (where the check in desks are) it is bloody enormous, if you are at one end and need the toilet it's some trek! I wonder how many of us remember the old old international terminal (RIP) with the departure gates ranging from 1A to 1B :D
We arrive on Saturday nights which is relatively quiet and depart on Tuesday evenings which are also fairly calm and everything was pretty smooth.
And had a McDonalds for the first time ever (at Dalaman Airport) :)
-
How much???
-
I do indeed remember the old old terminal Scunner! OMG it was awful, I hated it. Always packed solid inside and then they built the old one and, well :-\
Still have to experience the new one when departing but that's on Tuesday afternoon so hopefully not too busy.
To be fair we didn't have any problems on arriving and just over an hour and a half after landing our friendly FAT driver was dropping us off at our apartment. :)
-
How much???
£16.55 for 3 McMenu meals - I've paid more in UK :o

I have fond memories of the old old terminal - not sure why. I remember joining queues that actually crossed each other half way along and you could find you had spent 45 minutes in the wrong queue entirely.
-
Oh yes I remember doing that and that's after you'd queued half an hour outside before you could get into the building! ;D

Great fun waiting in the sun at Midday in August
-
The Domestic Terminal is a bleak miserable area which has no internet. The seats are like the ribs of a whale and the staff haven’t smiled since they had the hives AND they are not helpful :-\
-
I must have picked the worst place ever to get food from Sbarro threw it all in the bin.
-
Any members know if new airport has wifi yet please? Thanks :)
-
We got wifi when we left at end of last month. Just scan boarding card at the red stand thingy like in old terminal :D
-
Yep. I was getting WiFi when sitting at McDonald's.
-
Thank you both for info thats great
-
No facilities in the domestic terminal for WiFi.
