Mobile Scam
« on: January 30, 2013, 18:46:39 PM »
Please be aware of this latest Scam.

I have just tried to top up my Turkcell mobile, which stated that sim failed to register, when contacting Turkcell was informed my mobile was transferred to Avea in December.

On contacting Avea, i informed them that i was not in Turkey during this period and they have started an investigation.

Investigation to date which is ongoing, is someone has obtained a copy of my passport, i guess from Turkcell when i purchased the sim and registered  it in my name, signed the transfer form (not even a signature just a one letter), the mobile number was then successfully transferred and the phone was used in early Jan on 2 occasions.

i guess this scam is to prevent paying the 100ytl for setting up a new phone, and indicates the very poor security in Turkcell and Avea.

Please check your phones.
