thanks puma. a list like this over the years would have been worth its weight in gold. with so many on holiday now with children its handy to be able to go in to a chemist/hospital/surgery etc, point and get your message across. though we should all try more turkish. every trip i employ a local teenager to teach my lads, normally an hour a day. why not! serefe.

Linda,i think that the ampersand is a misprint, and it should be only .....agrim var, meaning,i have pain.Of course there should be the mark over the g to make it the soft g and the i should be undotted, making the pronunciation 'arum'.As for the other one it is agrikesici, which means...painkiller,pronounced,'aru kes uju'.Hastayim, means i am ill.Sorry not so clear as i dont have a turkish keyboard and the dotted and undotted 'i' makes a difference in turkish pronunciation as does the soft 'g'.Hope this helps.A case of the blind leading the blind,so to speak !!!

BF, I've not seen any postings about your holiday. Maybe I missed them as I've been in Spain. Did you have a good one?

My reading is that the ampersand and g represent the soft g . I find the lists invaluable but they do need a few letters changing into the Turkish alphabet which I do with the "Insert" "symbols" functions in Word and Excel.
