For ten years we visited a different Greek Island or holiday spot, but, on the eleventh Year, we visited Northern Cyprus. We were not blown away by the scenery but by the warmth and welcome of the Turkish people. We had been "brainwashed" by stories of Ala Pasha and his atrocities by the Greeks, but heard a very different story from the Turkish Cypriots. From then on, we visited Turkey. To say there is no comparison is an understatement, both for scenery and the warmth of the people. I can honestly say that I have never heard a bad word from the Turks re: the Greeks, but heard countless stories the other way around. Although we adored Northern Cyprus and it proved to be an eye opener, we still would, for scenic reasons, prefer Turkey. The people however, are beautiful wherever we go.
