We were in B.&.Q today  with our Daughter-In-Law.  She saw a lamp on the display that she liked. We could not find one in a box.  We asked the assistant, who went to check and came back and told us that there were none left.
I asked could we buy the display model. We were told that B.&.Q are not allowed to sell any of the lighting that has been switched on and displayed.  I asked what happens to all the lighting on display? It is all destroyed she said!!!!
Speaking about this later we were remarking it could be given to Charities to use.  They could always have it checked out with Electricians it necessary.
What a waste.....

It might have been something that had nothing to do with Turkey

Oh Dear, obviously the recent post started by Hamlet with some lovely ideas being put forward by members about posts being kind and considerate and no more snide comments etc,  did not last too long...

"Seems like it Jacqui"!!
On your original topic
It appears  to be a common theme with some big stores . They wont sell on display stock and are instructed to bin or scrap it. As you say it could be passed on to worthwhile causes

Off topic perhaps but the ball does appear to be firmly in your "court" jack13

Charity shops (in the UK) will not take any electric appliances. I know, I tried when getting rid of stuff when we moved our here....
