Mozzies in Menorca?
« on: July 31, 2016, 14:00:06 PM »
I've seen cheap flights for Menorca for next year but would only be going because the flights are cheap. Been once, and as soon as dusk came we were under attack from countless mozzies. People were grabbing their little kids and putting them in buggies and running for it. Never seen anything even close to it in all my times in Calis.

Do any members go to Menorca regularly? Is it a general problem or were we unlucky?

Thanks

It's the usual, anywhere near standing or stagnant water will invariably suffer from mozzies more so than areas without breeding grounds.

When the girls were small we went to Menorca several times, its probably the most family friendly of all the Balearics - which means there are kids everywhere!  In fact, other than Ciutadella, there's more kids than mozzies.  Not sure I'd want to go there for a "grown up" holiday.

Don't recall mozzies being a major issue, at least not in the areas we were - but then again, it was a few years ago so maybe they were and I simply don't remember  :)

We didn't have many mozzies but we did have a load of little bugs around our pool that leapt about 2 foot vertically all the time.  Never seen them anywhere else apart from Menorca.  Strange island.
