Title: Easter car hire
Post by: bewva on January 22, 2013, 23:32:45 PM
I am looking at car hire in Turkey for the Easter period. I was shocked to find I could hire a small car (fiesta/Clio) for £97 for 9 days.
I have never seen car hire this cheap.
You can find this on http://cars.atlaschoice.com/vehicles if anyone is interested.

That is a ridiculous price!

Not as ridiculous as the Algarve, they are advertising £3 per day, how can they make money at that price. It must cost more in the wages of the delivery driver.

One thing that does worry me about cheap car hire is whether they quote cheap prices then make their money by claiming damage has occurred to the vehicle when you return (when it hasn't).

Yes I must admit it is a bit of a worry but our usual hire company we use is almost twice the price so I thought i'd give it a go.
Economy Car rentals are just the agent. The paperwork was sent through this morning and the hire company is ERBOYCAR Rent a Car whoever they are?

If anyone sees a couple thumbing a lift at Dalaman airport on 30th April it may be me. :-[

If you can be bothered you could always take a few photos of the car before you drive away.  Especially good if your camera displays a date.

ERBOYCAR , Perhaps BOYRACER , might be lowered and have a loud exhaust ?   ;)

If it's the Economy car rentals that comes up first in a Google search for economy car rentals then yes. I tried them and the link you provided.

Certainly is - thanks for the tip Lotty. I decided not to use the delivery and return to Dalaman service as driving from the airport over there is not something I like after a flight, especially when arriving after dark - and I like to relax not stress about having the drive to do, and finding the car etc. They will bring the car to us in Calis the next morning, where they will find me all relaxed and entirely stress free  :)

If anyone else is interested the website is http://rentacarpegasus.com/en/index.html - nice guy too, Mutlu.

The other think to check is the insurance situation. In some countries the included insurance is pitiful and you end up having to pay for Collision Damage Waiver to get any piece of mind. This can be £5-10 per day depending where you are.

I used economy car rentals for many years picking up and dropping off at Dalaman. As somebody said they are agents so much depends on the firm that is used. Having said that no real problems but some times a brand new car ,other times a bit of a jallopy! Also one time the petrol looked low but were assured it would get us to first garage and know what it conked out 50 yards after the airport barrier!
