Looks like it's just around the hill from Telmessos. Yaniklar?
Got Fethiye on the island though :)
-
More round the hill from Telmessos than Yaniklar ;)
Those rows of white houses are sort of Kargi from memory, you can see them from certain parts of the beach at Koca Calis end.
-
I went looking for this in June ad I have 2 friends booked into this next May. I went as far as the memorial at end of beach and saw no sign of it. It's advertised as Fethiye, not Fethiye area.
-
Yes - someone tried to sell us one a few years back. I understand the main road in is just at the back of Cicek.
-
Toky- a bit past there. Around the big hill.
-
You can work out the location from this map and the photo you posted - Gunluk Kent is the huge white house row after row complex in the background of your photo, and for info bottom right is Telmessos.
-
Not been that far on our bikes yet. Is the beach nice there?
-
My friends will be gutted because they think its actually being built in Fethiye itself. if we'd only gone a bit further Stoop, we'd have seen the plot. :)
-
Unless you know an area you can really be fooled by the adverts. Most companies give the location as Fethiye....we discovered this several years ago when looking for holiday accommodation. Some hotels advertised as being in Fethiye were in Olu Deniz or Hiaranu and it was only because we knew the area that this was apparent.
-
The beach is lovely there, but apart from Cronation Street in the sun, there's not much.
-
I often think that in the distant future a huge bubble of glass could be put up anywhere in G.B. and a resort put under it, with a constant hot temperature. Then people could go on holiday without travelling abroad. Why travel abroad when you go to a place that encourages you never to leave it, if you could get the same thing in the U.K.
-
Technically it is Fethiye, just as Wetherby is Leeds and is about the same distance apart.
The local council of Ciftlik is no more and we now come under the Fethiye banner.
I hope nobody gets the boat to Fethiye Ilsland though ;-)

It's called Centre Parcs :)
-
My friends went to Olu Deniz All inclusive last year and really liked the town of Fethiye, hence they booked the new Sensatori, thinking it actually was being built in Fethiye itself, rater than the Fethiye area. Not looking forward to their reaction when they realise how far out they'll actually be. Ooops!
-
Yes - that's exactly where it is. We saw the cranes in June.
I have heard that Hanel are building it?
Ian
-
It's owned by Barut Hotels. Not sure who is building it.
-
Down there earlier in the year beleave it or not swats got the beach bar there all his trade is the builders of the site, well at least hes out of prison these days.
-
I used to walk this beach 3 or 4 times a week. In the winter I was often the only person on the beach. The peace and tranquility was wonderful. Looks like I left at the right time.
As far as Fethiye being on the island , a few years ago friends of mine stayed at the Majesty Club Tuana
in Yaniklar. They looked it up on Google Maps but were misled because , at that time the Telmessos estate had the label of Majesty Club Tuana on it. Fortunately, I was able to put them straight.
-
Been along on my bike there's a nice little beach with a shack/bar on it but it's all a bit scrubby along there and not else for miles
-
Gives you some idea where it is in relationship to Koca. It's just the other side of the nearest hill.

-
Its been going up fast, like seven days a week working all summer. Whatever happened to no building work in season when there are all those people living in Gunluk Kent. Scunners map is spot on, just below Gun Luk Kent white house and to the right. They will wipe out Suats place on the beach he says and take all they can of the area. There is a new concrete road bridge from the Caretta Restaurant road that goes straight to it
-
Looks like they will be startıng work on the new Hotel Complex next to Sunset at last. Hope they sort the roads out when they do. Its to be called Orka Seelife.
-
Please anyone keep us updated about this hotels progress I we are trying to find out as much as possible thinking of booking in June 2015 ? Will it be habitable haha .... Cheers
-
There is a special facebook page if you search on there. Lots of up to date news and photos. People already booked in for May.

Just looking at the Thomson website and it looks like bookings can be made from 2nd May, I had a look at a family room (not a swim up room) for 2 adults for 2 weeks in August 2015, are you sitting down?
London Gatwick Sat 1 Aug 2015 14:55 >21:00 to Sat 15 Aug 2015 21:45 >23:55
double family room with limited sea view - All Inclusive
£ 5104 Total Price
Thomson state: The brand new Sensatori Resort Fethiye is edged by the Mediterranean Sea and thickly-wooded mountains. Along with spectacular views, it’ll offer top restaurants and a peaceful spa.
Sensatori Resort Fethiye has a prime location. It’s spread across 19 acres of land, and sits beside a hillside clocked in sweetgum trees. If that wasn’t enough, you’ve also got a stony beach that stretches for miles.
When it opens in summer 2015, the resort’s highlights will include pools fringed by flora, restaurant menus serving everything from Asian to Turkish cuisine, and Sensatori’s signature wellbeing and children’s facilities.
Rooms will be portioned out between a series of low-rise wings to make everything feel more hideaway. For the ultimate indulgence, you can upgrade to a swim-up room.
-
I could go round the world just about for that ! :o Ok.. It would be backpacking not luxury but a hell of a lot more fun !!
-
We went down there to have a look and it's a total building site and there is no way in my opinion they will get it ready in the next six weeks or so. They have also blocked all access to the beach so residents from the large sitessi on the outskirts of the hotel have lost access to what was their beach.
Also the drive down to the hotel from the turn off point on the D400 is hardly what I would expect after booking into a premiere five star resort and I could already hear the combined voices on the coaches ferrying tourists from the airport saying "Where the hell have they brought us?"
-
I hear from those going that it's opening 01May and the soft opening is next week. Did you manage to look inside the grounds? Pics I've seen look like its going to be ready but this is Turkey so they might all end up in Side yet
-
Stoop, they won't let you anywhere near the site, as said earlier they have also blocked access to the beach. Some of the accommodation blocks are unfinished, as is the perimeter fence, there is no landscaping yet so the hotel is surrounded by mud. What looks like the reception area is still under construction. It may be paradise inside, and often these guys perform miracles to get a place open on time but from my very limited view of the site yesterday, somehow I doubt it.
-
Stoop and Rimms, that's terrible if you're one of those families which have booked their dream holiday there! We've been the victims of building promises, so we know how it feels!
-
If you go to facebook mentioned earlier and register you can see dozens of photos of hotel from beginning to present day. latest look very much nearly finished to me.
-
Looks almost there:
(http://s23.postimg.org/wuha5cmmv/10451799_880148372042082_7785871680796272748_n.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/wuha5cmmv/)
-
That is not a real picture is it??
-
That's what I thought too - that's a computer 3D image surely?
-
The shadow on the nearest (left hand side) block casts to the right (i.e. in front of the building). The shadow on the small single storey building seems to cast to it's left? So it's a computer impression, unless they have invested in an extra sun :D
-
I think our Stoop is on commission, as he is now retired, next thing we know he will be out there working for Thomson's ;D ;)
-
Stoop has been dreaming of a 5 star hotel down the same end as his place over there. To justify his claim that the area is "up and coming" :)
-
Judging by a real photo published today, the reality maybe isn't quite so perfect and blue :D
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10690143_10152911118439611_1562739894774546961_n.jpg?oh=619a7149d905b84c97a1fb15dc56853a&oe=5597346A&__gda__=1436244348_0fbbf796eb4a599605a67ddea4cae31d)
-
Looks to me like it's an abandoned building rather than a new 5 star hotel
-
That's definitely not the the impression the admins on the Sensatori facebook page are portraying. I asked if the picture was a real time photo and was told yes. I did doubt it. I am interested as I have friends going here.
-
This is another photo allegedly taken yesterday
(http://s11.postimg.org/q08og4m9r/sensatori.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/q08og4m9r/)
-
Looks fake to me. I passed the place on Wednesday and it still very much looks like a building site from the outside at least.
Also if that was taken yesterday there was a lot more cloud about than that :)
-
A FAKE. !! In Turkey. ? Come on philrose.
-
just found these on their build site 20th April , is is a start to the area, but Koca Calis 5star??? area 5star prices?

-
Scunner - your picture is one of the new staff accomodation block which is at the back of Cicek!
The one I put up was taken the day before yesterday and is not a CGI as far as I can tell. Neither is Toky's :)
-
And Jacqui - I am not on anything - just relaying information which is what I thought the forum was for?
You should try it sometime ;-)
-
But it was cloudy yesterday Stoop, how can the sky be so nice and blue :)
-
This is the staff block between Cicek and Saglik
Judging by a real photo published today, the reality maybe isn't quite so perfect and blue :D
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10690143_10152911118439611_1562739894774546961_n.jpg?oh=619a7149d905b84c97a1fb15dc56853a&oe=5597346A&__gda__=1436244348_0fbbf796eb4a599605a67ddea4cae31d)
-
But it was cloudy yesterday Stoop, how can the sky be so nice and blue :)
Your picture was taken on the same day I think. Doesn't look cloudy to me :)
-
It's nowhere near as blue as the
CGI erm other photos :D
-
Well that could just be that different cameras were used on different settings. Also the image I put up is very low res - hence the CGI look to it. I can assure you it is a real image though just as you assured me it was cloudy all day :)
-
I at not time assured you it was cloudy all day! Where did you get that from!!! I said it was cloudy yesterday because Phil said there were more clouds yesterday in his post! I have no idea how cloudy or whether it was all day or not!
Your personal excitement and energy over a hotel opening (both here and on FB) is remarkable, I wish I could get as involved and spend so much time writing about a place I'm probably never stay in, ever.
And they are CGI :D
-
I see on the Koca Calis Facebook page that the residents near this place are really annoyed at the way the Sensetori builders have ripped through all their pipework. Apparently, one of the Brits who complained has been offered a free week at the Resort.
-
Ah is that what you are hoping for Stoop :D
-
Apparently, one of the Brits who complained has been offered a free week at the Resort.
It's amazing how people can be so vocal in their opposition to something yet be bought off with the offer of a measly free week's stay - souls for sale in expat Turkey, what ever happened to principles.
-
There is a frantic guy on T.A. that has booked for 1st May and rang Thomson's to ask if the place would be ready.
He was on hold for 40 minutes and was told there is no information and to ring back on Monday. So, he went to his local Thomson shop and they told him they have no information.
Yet, apparently on the Sensatori F.B. Page and other sources in the U.K. (not Thomson's) the place is ready. :) This guy is asking in the wrong place, seems so many people know more than Thomson's :)
-
Correct Jacquie - I think they do know more than Thomson
-
Not excited at all Keith - just an interested party looking on from a distance.
Hopeful for those who have laid out their hard earned money that the place will be ready for them. Unlike some who appear to just want to wind them up and seem to want the hotel opening to be delayed ;-)
And you are correct - I'll not be going there or to any AI as far as I know.
-
After a bit of digging found this tweet posted 4 hours ago saying what view to wake up to. Apparently she's a Thomson Kids rep.. I'm trying to get in contact with her ;)
https://twitter.com/Cazzaaarrr/status/592233709002186752/photo/1
and if you read her stream there's more pics of them having a 'great time' but she's not enamoured with the grub..lol
-
If that's a cgi they have done a wonderful job. Even the freshly watered plants are showing! Very clever detail! :)
-
Not finished then ;-)
-
Not finished outside?
Like a diamond, gently pressed into a dog turd.
Not my idea of 5* luxury.
-
Keith you have a real way with words, you should have been a poet. ;D ;)
-
Why are people getting irritable with each other over an hotel in which they have no personal interest and insist they will never stay? Is it something to do with the time of year? Sunspots? Election campaign blues?
-
My interest (since you asked) isn't in the hotel, it's in why Stoop is all over Facebook, CBF and Tripadvisor spending endless hours promoting it and telling everyone how ready it is :D
-
Well, the Mystery deepens. Since I posted what was a working link to a photo taken this morning by a Rep has now resulted in not only the photo removed but the
entire profile/account. :-\
Think I'm going to have a little Jaunt down there next week when I arrive !! 8)

[/ You are blocked from following @Cazzaaarrr and viewing @Cazzaaarrr's Tweets. Learn more font] ;D ;D ;D
-
I'm not blocked but the post/tweet certainly appears to have been removed. Odd stuff.
-
I posted on there suggesting that guests make the most of the area, don't stay cooped up and come to spend some cash outside to aid the local economy - gone !
-
Your are not the only one with a ban for daring to say what it is like on the real world outside the bubble.
-
All over? I run Saglik and Koca Calis forums on FB and think most members might be a little interested in what's going on in the area. A bit like this section of this forum I guess.
TA? I go on very infrequently and when I do its to look more than speak.
If giving info on the local area we own a property in is such a problem for anyone then I suggest they stop frequenting the forums.
I'm not the one getting my knickers in a twist here. Others seem to want to run the place down. Feel free - I don't really care.
-
I think everyone should unfurl their boxers and stroll off for an Efes, but watch out for dog turds underfoot.!! ;)
Peace & Harmony. Make love not war. Give peace a chance.
-
My observation was not aggressive or confrontational. I was just noting that while the locals living out there seem to be having problems caused by the construction of the hotel, and while people (e.g. Rimms) who is out there full time and has been to see progress and reports it is very unlikely to be ready on time, you are assuring people the opposite and that it looks great etc.
It seems a little odd that the person who is the most positive about it in all these social media arenas is the one who hasn't seen it?
I don't care either, there is absolutely no chance of me ever booking a hotel in a backwater, labelled as Fethiye at those prices!!! But I hope that clarifies the thoughts behind my post(s).

Taken 21st April from the perimeter fence on the west side front (beach) corner....
(http://s13.postimg.org/xs6cu4k6r/CIMG3017.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/xs6cu4k6r/)
They were getting ready to turf the area at the front entrance, but a fair bit to do with the landscaping elsewhere.
And here is the beach on the same date....

If I was arriving next week and saw that I'd be hopping mad to put it politely.
Never fails to amaze me how Tour Operators claim that's 5* Star Standard and how many people are gullible enough to believe it. More like upmarket 3* in the real world.
-
It's five star inside though ;-)
-
Went 2 days ago to have look at this, not easy to get so close to it but gardens being laid. Still a ploughed field one side of the hotel at least. I saw some Thomson coaches coming and going along the approach road so assume it is being used. Feel it is a bit sad that the access to the beach from the housing site close to this development has been blocked for cars, only possible to walk along a path next to the perimeter wall and then through the trees to get to the beach. Personally not my sort of place, looks a bit like a prison at the moment, but sure lots of people will enjoy it and it is early days for the gardens. No way does it look like the images shown on Thomson website though, they must be computer generated. No surprise there though I feel.
-
Tried to post a pic on the FB page with a question but got ****ty reply and banned this time ,hey ho,I've been kicked out of better places!
-
Some say it's definitely ready, some say it is definitely not ready. Both can't be right. Soon the first Tripadvisor reviews will be coming in and we will know.
-
Well all the staff are there I think so at least they'll get a holiday if it doesn't open ;-)
-
Taken yesterday. Obviously for effect as you can't really see much of the perimiter:

-
That's on the Facebook Site Stoop - I've joined.. am brewing up something which will no doubt get me kicked off ;)
Quite a few people on the Facebook site have posted that they are flying out today or Sunday..and looking forward to it.
-
Have they stolen the beach ?
-
Whatever Puss! If you want to upset those who have paid their hard earned cash to pay for their summer holiday there then go for it.
Personally I don't get off on reporting bad news - I prefer good news - and those pictures taken yesterday appear to show the place ready to accept customers. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong but I won't be gloating and saying 'I told you so' - either way.
For the record I would NEVER book a holiday to a new hotel until I had seen the reviews. I think those doing so (and paying a fortune) are mad but at the end of the day it's their choice. Some like to be first, others don't. Their choice not mine.
-
Steve, Yes and part of the woods too. Amazing that they can fence off a public beach. I hope someone in the area will ask questions about this matter.
Pussinboots, you will get thrown off the F.B.Website if you post anything they don't agree with. I have seen a few people saying they have been banned. The F.B. Website only want to tell their customers the place is a wonderful fairyland.
-
Steve - I think they have! That's one of the bad things about all this. On top of the horrendous staff quarters that they have built in the middle of a lake in Koca Calis! Barut have created havoc in the area and money appears to be the only reason they have built the staff quarters where they have.
-
Which FB site have you been banned from? I'm still allowed on the Senstaori Fethiye 2015 page but I think that's different from the one I was originally allowed on. Not sure to be honest but it looks different and I cannot access any other ones.
Maybe I'm banned too ;-)
-
The FB page is Sensatori Fethiye 2015 I can access the page but all posts are vetted before they appear, none of mine do they delete them and their ****ty replies. They did say that the FB group is in no way affiliated with Thomson or Barut but was set up for prospective holidaymakers to meet online before having their holidays and a place to express their positive views. The reply said that they will not post any negative reviews as this is not what the group is about and if I wished to post anything negative there were plenty of forums in the area to do that !I never posted anything negative, just asked some questions
-
I posted on Sonia's FB page querying whether all would be ready in time, stating that some of my friends in the area said that they doubted it would be possible. I was asked who these friends were!! (didn't reply to that >:( )
-
Had a ride down there today on my scooter the hotel looks fantastic fountains and all, lots of security around the hotel and after asking some questions im informed that there is going to be another block built next year making it the biggest hotel in the area.Thomascook look like they have the monopoly down there.
-
Thomson may have something to say about that :)
-
Photos and post from guest are being posted, rooms look brilliant and the remarks so far are all positive. food, room service etc, I really hope that this sets the standard that Fethiye has been striving toward.
I personally still prefer the old Calis.
-
It's open then
-
I will probably get banned from the site for posting these from the first guest to the resort. Would I consider staying here in the future? maybe elsewhere in the world.

So, they have shops in there too. That will save the customers ever stepping out of the place. :-X
-
Just right for the people who like to tell you they've been to Turkey for two weeks and it was wonderful - without having ever stepped out of their all inclusive bubble! : :)
-
We stayed in the Sensetori in Sharm el Sheik in Jan, it was very good, 5 star mmm dont think so.
-
This place reminds me of the films Logans Run and The Island (2005)!
-
Must say, it looks pretty good to me! How come the sand appears to be golden, and minus pebbles? How far is it to walk, say, from the Surf Cafe and with the sea in front of you, is it to the right, between the Surf Cafe and Koca Calis Beach Club, if so, what was taken away to allow for it - or am I way off mark?
I wonder - is this the start of a line of hotels to oust the beach clubs? Hope not! Also wonder if the decision to finally finish the roads around here (yippee!) has something to do with the building of this hotel. . .
-
If you look closely there are still pebbles near the shore. The sand looks better because they have added to it I think.
-
This might help. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05/03/84c96538b72d0d6d0dc8fd05c480111a.jpg)
-
It's slightly less than that
-
Thanks very much for the overview, Stoop! Still looks like quite a walk from the Surf Cafe to this hotel - at least 15 - 20 minutes?
-
No use walking there. No way are they going to let you in.
-
Or out :)
-
ArtyMar - the picture shows distance and walking time. 2.2miles. 42mins.
-
I'd bike it if you have one.
No need to go out Keith ;-)
-
You can bike it there for your free weekend Stoop ;)
-
Jacqui, you'd think they'd be pleased to let people have a look around - especially people from abroad in the hope that they will spread the news of what a fantastic place this is and maybe stay there in the future :) Keeping it too secret smacks of being embarrassed about something!
-
I think you can pay to have a day there.
Free for me of course ;-)
-
Photos and post from guest are being posted
Can I ask where? Tripadvisor's page for this hotel is review free as far as I can see.
-
One for those who don't think it's five star - from TA :
"Resort opened yesterday to rave reviews from all that are there. The photos taken by them in the last 24 hrs (around 150 and rising) are all on the FB page and show a completely finished resort including beatiful planting, green grass and sandy beach.
So much for local knowledge if it resorts to some people scare mingering by saying it's still a building site and won't be completed.
Hope everyone who goes enjoys a fabulous holiday."
-
I think the reviews/photos are on the closed FB page Scunner.

FB closed page, I did put a link to CBF as guest were asking about the area, I have not yet got kicked out of their FB page,
if you type Sensatori Fethiye in FB then wait to get accepted.
Edited today because Gordon is very particular about my spelling and grammar, I think he is afraid I could show myself up if taken to court. Do I really care?
-
Ok cheers - I'll give closed groups that only allow positive comments a wide berth. The tripadvisor reviews will start to trickle through any day now.

Not international brand 5 star "luxury" then. Not sure I'd pay thousands for the hotel then have to pay for Baileys - or fifteen quid for a bottle of Malibu!!!
£15 is bloody good though in Turkey.

This review came from the guy who runs the 5 Sensatori F.B. Pages and has not been out there himself. He also said the building site pictures on CBF where taken by disgruntled ex-pats with vested business interests in the area. Later he said the pictures on CBF were taken months ago and not recently. So, he cannot be relied on for an on site report.

The FB page is showing some fantastic photos of the new hotel if anyone wants to have a look.
Looks like a really fantastic upmarket resort.
People arriving since last Friday have been posting loads of stuff gushing about how great it all is.
Not sure where all the rubbish about it not being finished came from but its looks very finished to me and to all those on site there now so hopefully it will employ plenty of locals for many years to come.
-
Why is it when I go to sensatori hotel Fethiye I see no reviews yet?
-
Maybe due to the fact it only opened on Friday??
-
Welcome to the Forum Globetrotter, are you staying at the Resort? are your booked in to stay? We would all be interested to hear more about you...
-
keep myself to myself Jacqui :) Booked to go to the resort next May so have a keen interest in how it all goes.
-
Maybe due to the fact it only opened on Friday??
I meant people are quoting from Tripadvisor but there are no reviews yet that I can see.
I know there are no reviews yet because it has only just opened, but thanks for taking the time to state the obvious.
-
you could always join the FB page then scummer as im sure it will enlighten you
-
The one where all negative comments are removed - I don't think so, I am interested in a balanced view - what would be the point in such a group that only allows good comments!!! :D
-
You dont have to read it all, just look at the lovely pictures. It will suit you down to the ground ;)
-
We stayed at an AI place once. It was a last minute special offer for a Christmas break in Side. Once was quite enough; never again.
-
The one where all negative comments are removed - I don't think so, I am interested in a balanced view - what would be the point in such a group that only allows good comments!!! :D
The point of such groups is to maintain the illusion (or delusion, depending on your view).
It is a sort of mutual back slapping society that suppresses free speech and to promote vested interests.
It should ring the alarm bells in any rational person.
-
No Globetrotter - because I want to see the nice photos and the bad ones, that's why I won't be bothering with the FB group that has deleted comments even from people who are members here - because they weren't as positive as required by the people that run that entirely one sided FB group.
Now cut the attitude.
-
I think the attitude came from you in your initial reply to my post this morning mr perfect
-
The point of such groups is to maintain the illusion
No point then :)

Last chance, love the Sensatori, hate the Sensatori but cut the attitude.
-
WOW really friendly forum this turned out to be...... not very open at all
-
Oh, I nearly forgot - I need to confirm a bit of forum rules and protocol.
Unlike the FB "postive or deleted" Sensatori group, CBF welcomes a all views - provided they are shared in a respectful and well behaved manner.
With that in mind I'd like to say something to John McConkey who runs the Sensatori Facebook Group and weeds out all the posts he does't like.
Welcome to Calis Beach Forum John!
-
WOW really friendly forum this turned out to be...... not very open at all
You would be an expert at that sort of thing John
Hahaha
-
I never thought the day would arrive when I would say it, but:
WELL DONE SCUNNER!
Another one bites the dust!
-
Why did you think such a day would not arrive :D
Limited intelligence, catches them out every time.
-
Good for you Scunner. This guy also promotes all the Sensatori's on T.A. anyone daring to say anything bad about them is soon admonished by GasMan.
-
And then he accuses us of not being open - you couldn't write it!!!
No really, you couldn't write it, he won't let you :D

Well Globetrotter all I can say is that from where I Am sitting now outside the Letoon in Gorgeous sunshine it's a flaming blot on the landscape

Not a pretty view from the Letoon right now.....more a flaming blot on the landscape !!! Even from a great distance its massive. :(

Cheers Scunner...Will buy u an Efes. ;)

Sorry - I deleted my reply...but it is pretty difficult to read.
I'll accept the Efes though :D

This is what our new member Globetrotter aka GasMan wrote on 30th April on T.A.
---------------------
I'm sure the guests who will arrive tomorrow will be able to see who's been embellishing the situation and it won't be me.
The FB sites have a comprehensive photo album from breaking ground right through to completion and show the full picture, not that which suits a certain criteria. All pictures were taken by people on site during construction and not from outside the complex with no access to the site.
Showing old photos and claiming them as recent, showing unfinished staff accommodation located miles away and claiming it as the resort buildings all of which have been posted by your Calis beach forum ex pats smacks of "we're not happy so no one else should be"
Let the gueats make their own mind up but trying to scaremonger people who have paid good money for their hard earned holidays with posts always ending with veiled comments such as "well hopefully it will all be ready" is just pettiness in the extreme and disgusts me personally.
I don't benefit in any way from running the FB pages, it's something I do for others benefit (last 5 years) but I certainly know how the ex pat recommendation scheme works!!!
mind how you go

I have now been blocked, but not my alterego FB page. so I can still see it, now, why have I been blocked from the site? showing the pretty photos? the views?
I will now post what guest staying in the Adult only section are complaining about.
The complaint is, guest paying for Adult only have complained that the area is being used by families with children and children left to play in the area.
The stones at the shoreline.
What happens to the sand when the storms hit the area? we know what happened the last time sand was put down, it disappeared over night.

And you have to pay for Baileys ;)
-
So can you book just rooms and stay AI as I can only find prices including flights. As for paying for baileys most AI in turkey don't include it as normally the package includes local brands unless you pay much higher prices and then international drinks are included.
-
I'd say this hotel falls into the category "much higher prices" :D
-
:o :o :o :o :o
TOTAL PRICE £4280.00 £2140.00 per person
2 Adults
HOTEL
FLIGHTS

London Gatwick - Dalaman

Thu 27 Aug 2015 14:1016:30 Thomas Cook

20 kg luggage × 2 Included
-
Good grief at those prices : :) :o
-
£3955 (£1977pp) with TC to Letoonia same dates, same departure, 20kg and seats. Both seem hellish expensive to me.
Not sure I'm that bothered about AI at those prices ;-)
-
Perhaps the best idea would be to make CBF a " Sensatori Free " site ?? Not that one would be enjoying a " Free " vacation there, :o just don't accept any posts re. this place ??
-
Oi, give over Gordon! I'm enjoying this. Nice to have a new topic of interest. And a feisty new member stirring it up. In fact his style reminds me of a pantomime villain from the early days of CBF who used to light a fuse late on Saturday nights and ran what he happily believed to be a rival Fethiye forum. Then he decided to charge a membership fee for his outstanding services and the thing collapsed.
-
I wish the hotel well - I have always said on this very forum that AI is not bad for the local economy. People do leave (and I know some simply don't, but most do) and do excursions, find local restaurants (they'll have a job over there) and even if one person buys one coffee, it was a coffee that would have remained unsold without the hotel.
I am also not anti-AI as a concept, we have been to several in recent years and they are most suitable for families with kids. Nor would I wish families who have booked for the early weeks have a bad holiday - what sort of a person would want that? I hope they all have a great time and that this experience makes them want to see a bit more of Turkey in years to come.
It's the blatant censorship with which these FB groups operate that is what I find repulsive. Who is helped by sanitised, positive only contributions? What purpose does such a group serve to those looking for a genuine idea of where they have booked or are thinking of booking?
Soon the reviews will start on Tripadvisor and I assume the "it's ready" and "luxury" claims of these groups will in part be replaced by comments such as "teething problems" and the nauseating cut and paste responses used again and again, like "we are sorry your holiday didn't reach the high standards our hotels aim to achieve", "we take your comments seriously" from Thomson and their blindly lead Sensatori fans (who haven't even seen it but know how ready it is).
Because it can't open and be perfect, that's never happened in the history of AI, and staff in all jobs in all industries don't work at full 100% efficiency from day one, they need to learn the duties and how their new employers do things.
So why pretend it opened it's doors to perfect build, service and luxury? Let's wait and see.
-
I agree Keith - I'm sure it's not perfect and to be honest there are some posts to that effect.
For example the private pools (not the swim-ups) are a bit small according to one guy and not worth the £1000+ extra!
Someone just reported paying 45 Euros (yes 45 Euros!) for two packs of pringles and two bottles of sun cream.
I'm sure there will be more complaints as time goes on and I'm also sure most of them will be on TA as that seems to be the place to leave reviews.
There will always be those who want to moan about new hotels and changes to the area (that's what CB is partly for surely) and as Colwyn says it makes good entertainment :)
Long live discussion :)
-
I think the Jiva is getting more bad ones at the moment though ;-)
-
They must have got their pricing structure from Dalaman Airport. ;)
-
Yes - a captive audience I guess.
-
My Waiter here has just said it looks like a jail house ..lol. He's right ;D
And he's was flabbergasted when I quoted him prices ...said he can live on that for months. I can't see much of that money filtering through to year ordinary local.
Buy local..stay local I say !! 8)
-
OK, here are up the pictures taken two hours ago, we walked down the beach from the Koca Calis end and in my usual manner strolled into the hotel like we owned the place, never at one point was I challenged and was almost tempted to buy a bottle of Baileys.
To be honest, it looks good inside, there are a still a legion of builders doing snagging jobs, the pools are fabulous if you like that sort of thing.
-
A few more
-
I feel sorry for those who have paid huge amounts for their holiday on what looks like a building site.
-
Not ready. I hate it when I am right :D
-
Rimms, with reference to the F.B. Sensatori Page... They will never believe you. ;D
-
I know JH. These photos are really bad photoshops !
To be truthful, it looks like a place that after 24 hours you would become stir crazy, the problem being that it's like a good prison, there is nothing within miles of this location.
-
One point also to remember is that the "FB owners"..for that is what they are will be earning an income from whatever advertising gets a click through. Perhaps it's paying for some very expensive Sensatori holidays ! Now wonder everybody has to be perfect.
And..Yes I realise cb also generates income but it's to run the cb site.
I sometimes think that T...... could also be behind it as well. Companies will stoop to all sorts to gain an extra buck or Two
My thoughts entirely
-
A few more
-
One question - where are all the guests?
-
We thought that Steve, we got there about 4.30 yesterday afternoon and saw no more than about 15 people, judging by the lorry unloading hundreds of mattresses, obviously many rooms are not yet furnished.
-
Looks nice inside, did not not realise that trees that big can be transplanted. I can see some guests with their toes in the water, but surprised it looks so empty.
-
Max has just planted 4 or 5 large palm trees at his place Jacqui. I think it can be done but they will need plenty of water.
-
To be fair Rimms most of those photos look to be at the rear of the hotel where guests probably won't venture.
I've been behind many hotels in the past and seen some sights. This is pretty much expected with a brand new place. Barut and Thomson need to start earning as soon as possible. They have to set a date for opening and try and stick to it.
The beach side and grounds look awesome and the inside of the hotel seems exceptional from what I've seen. No doubt there will be snagging though. It is Turkey after all.
Maybe the extra mattresses are for the staff as I hear their accommodation near Cicek is nowhere near ready yet.
-
Maybe they aren't. Your efforts at explaining away the concerns are magnificent Stoop!
Maybe the wooden jetty that isn't ready that the man in the photo is working on is for the staff too :D
-
Surely no-one would be daft enough to unload mattresses unless they were as close as possible to where they are going to be needed?
The swimming pools are not "around the back" and I can only see three people in the photographs, not exactly packed out with frolicking holidaymakers is it?
Is it me or is that the same buggy/trolley appearing in two of the photographs?
-
To be fair Stoop, the area that is still a building site is not ten feet away from where guests are staying, if you also look closely, you will see a number of portakabin type buildings in the heart of the main hotel complex and of course what my pictures do not show is the ever present sound of power drills and saws being used around the place. One way or another Im not arsed and only took the pictures to show a true state of play but if the argument is about whether this place is finished and ready or not, it's a simple answer, it isn't.
-
How do they get away with privatising that area of beach,I know there's another place like that just past the Dolmus terminus at the far end of the prom
-
It was my understanding of Turkish Law that you cannot "privatize" a beach; it is public land, However, you can own the overland access to a beach. This means you can walk along the length of the beach to get to this bit of beach and that is OK; doing a Rimms and striding confidently through hotel grounds is probably trespass of something similar.
Mind you my grasp of UK law, let alone Turkish law, is rather frail. I'm not even sure of trespass in the UK. Do you actually have to do damage to the land to make it "trespass" or only to be in the wrong place?
-
I wondered what they could do to me if I was stopped, there are no signs (at the moment) declaring it as private land and neither were any of the guests wearing a wristband which I thought was strange
-
No wristbands !!! There's a first for ai !!
-
Max has just planted 4 or 5 large palm trees at his place Jacqui. I think it can be done but they will need plenty of water.
Letoon has new Palm trees.... bedding in Will take 6/8 weeks and they are propped up with planks till roots have got a good grip.
-
Had a little guided tour this afternoon inside and outside . Inside is very classy indeed and both outside pools are lovely with loads of room. Yes the hotel perimeter areas are very much work in progress. Everyone I met was very hospitable but a lot of rope learning taking place. This hotel needs a little time to settle which is probably difficult for the guests who are there now to accept. As we know this is an All Inclusive set up but from 1000 - 1800 there is a charge of 50 Euros to use some of their facilities but not all but I got the feeling that this was not high on the agenda for the time being but circumstances may change.
-
Well those who have booked the first week are mad IMO. Ok cost might be a factor and maybe wanting to be first for some.
Not something I would remotely contemplate. Same with Jiva the other year. It didn't open at all!
-
Just hope they don't get the palm tree virus that has killed so many in Europe.
-
No wristbands !!! There's a first for ai !!
letoon all inc in fethiye don't have wrist bands either, we hustled a day there year before last, but could not possible divulge how it was done ;)
markar
-
Rixos at Lara don't do wristbands either
-
Only had wristbands once whilst staying at an AI in Turkey.
-
Heard last night that it is VERY quiet. I guess many just didn't want to risk the first week.
Shock horror - I also read some moans on the FB site! They were not removed either!
Seems the 5* gym is not ready until today which has upset a few. Also someone paid 40euros for a pretty crappy meal. Oh - and someone left their towels on the sunbeds all day!
Such a tough life for some eh?
-
the only wrist bands that Sensatori do are the grey ones to show you are a returning customer, i gets you a few more perks.
-
ive just come back from sensatori in Lanzarote and we had wristbands
-

Maybe this answer from the hotel on TA isn't fully accurate then
(http://www.calis-beach.co.uk/sensatori.jpg)
-
Yes, I read that on T.A. along with 5 other postings. I cannot understand why the Barut Rep is not telling their customers the truth.
-
I was up that way yesterday - along with Menthol and a couple of other Coven-ites - and the word that came to mind was 'sterile'.
Closely followed by 'isolated'.
Certainly not my cup of Yorkshire tea.
-
AI & Isolated quite often go together.
Not my cup of tea either but each to their own I guess.
Hopefully those who have gone ther enjoy their hols.
-
im not sure if id risk a first week, the one in Lanzarote has only been open since January, and was a refurb, and on a much smaller scale than this one, but was very nice, and nowhere near as expensive as this one, although we was very impressed the extra cost is wasted on us as we spend most of our time out of he hotel. i couldnt consider AI in turkey but then we know the area and the restaurants
-
First reviews do not sound too good. I would not have liked to have paid so much money for this resort.
I think the motto is Don't go until the resort has been running for a while.
This is from T.A.
“Not up to 5 stars at the moment”
Reviewed 2 days ago NEW
Ok it's only the first week of opening but the Sensatori brand has been around long enough for lessons learnt. The Turkish Restaurant has really bad service, you wait ages there is no manager around to raise a complaint. The Gym isnt finished there are only two running machines and two cycle machines. The booking system for the restaurant's are ridiculous, you queue for ages and their fully booked within 15 minutes even though the hotel isn't full. The booking system isn't 24 hours either.
Not what I was expecting from the Sensatori/Barut brand, really disappointing. The place is immaculate but it has only just opened.
The room layouts are really bad, if there are the three of you sharing a room you there are no doors on the bathrooms as they are integrated with the hallway and bedroom, therefore you either have to get dried in the shower or infront of people.
Stayed May 2015, travelled as a couple
-
Oh dear
-
If it was me receiving far less than promised I,d be complAining to Thomson like billyoh. I just hope they access the complaint Form in triplicate from their rep signed before going home.
-
When we stated on CBF that the word locally was that the hotel would not be ready, we were accused by the self appointed "Mr Sensatori" John McConkey (who unlike the CBF members who contributed has never been near the hotel or area but apparently knows more than those who have)of scaremongering, posting old photos, and lying - and I quote his words
I don't benefit in any way from running the FB pages, it's something I do for others benefit (last 5 years) but I certainly know how the ex pat recommendation scheme works!!!
...I cannot let the fact that it wasn't ready - making us correct and him the liar - just pass without comment.
CBF: correct. Self appointed Sensatori lacky: liar.
Thanks.

All Inclusive
So All Inclusive except for the things they charge for :(
-
So All Inclusive except for the things they charge for :(
Like food.
-
I stayed in a AI 5 star hotel in Marmaris this year and they even charged extra for the safe in the room plus you had to leave a cash deposit for beach towels.
-
When we stayed at Letoonia 11 years ago, everything was free, the top restaurants had to be booked before hand but there was no charge and the boat that ran every half hour to Fethiye Harbour was also free.
Now, they charge for the top restaurants and the boat as well. Considering how much it is to stay there, I cannot understand why they are now charging for these things.
-
Quote ' I cannot understand why they are now charging for these things'
Because the british are idiots when it comes to paying for extras .We pay it ,so they charge it. >:(

We don't normally do too many all inclusive holidays and apart from the odd short break in Antalya which we have enjoyed we went t the El Dorado Casitas Royale in Mexico, everything was included, breakfast always had bottles of champagne on ice along with no less than seven different brands of vodka including Grey Goose (apparently Americans like a Bloody Mary with breakfast?) all of the onsite restaurants were different gourmet themes so no need to book. The ground floor suites were all swim up, there was a double bed on your outside patio, the drinks fridge was full of quality brands and replenished three times a day, the bars also only served branded spirits and champagne at no extra charge.
I think I might be a bit disappointed at the Sensatori Fethiye by comparison !!
-
Same here Rimms Barbados , Jamaica etc; everything was included -also branded spirits Barbados even provided cigarettes at the bar : :)
-
Oh I couldn't possibly go to that Mexican one Rimms, too much effort to swim up to my room! Bit shoddy that ;) ;D
-
I remember freshly squeezed orange juice being 2TL in one AI place we stayed in over there - probably Letoonia Belek.
Why were people having to pay for their "crappy meal" anyway? In Tunisia last year there was the main buffet restaurant and 3 a la carte ones, all included inm the price. I've never heard of having to pay for food at a 5* AI?
-
Lotty, it's not a problem, a little bloke dressed in a big sombrero will push your sun bed down the lazy river, stop off at the submerged cocktail bar en route and then onto your suite where he will help you onto your bed. I used him all the time after being on the grey goose at breakfast !!!!
-
Sounds lush! ;) in the best sense!

Well I never thought AI's were my kind of thing - but then again ...... ;D ;D ;D

Booked to go to the hotel later in the summer, does anyone know if there is any complementary transport into Fethiye, or alternatively whether you can get a dolmus from the hotel entrance?
-
Welcome. Better to check with the hotel itself.
-
I have just heard that there is a dolmus that goes from outside the hotel all the way to Fethiye. Evidently it goes via Koca Calis and then onto the main road towards Gunlukbasi and on to Fethiye.
Not sure of the cost though but it won't be much.
-
Thanks for your replies, just heard no shuttle service, but dolmus and Taxis available from the hotel entrance?
-
Today on F.B
--------------------
Hi just visited new Sen hotel room brill food ok don't use sun set grill and pay 20 euros shi , staff need 2 learn english. Takes 45 min transfers and 30 min taxi 2 get anywhere else brill if just want 2 chill out tho .
----------------------------------------------
Imagine paying all that money to stay at this place and then having to pay to visit one of the restaurants... Are they having a laugh ??
However, it just shows you that these resorts are so inclusive and cut off from the real world, some people do not realise they are in Turkey and no one has told them that strangely enought the locals speak Turkish. :-X
-
3TL each way for dolmus to Fethiye, Elgringo58
-
We were on the Yaniklar dolmus on Sunday and from Tuana and Barut its 5 TL to Fethiye.
Our fare Kargi to Fethiye 2tl :)
-
Thanks for your assistance regarding the Dolmus fares, do you know if it also goes to Gocek?
-
Gocek is in the opposite direction on the way to Dalaman. If you wanted to go to Gocek, you would have to go into Fethiye and get another dolmus to Gocek, or possibly go to Yaniklar and catch the Gocek dolmus from there.
Take a look at a local map, which will give you a better idea of where things are. ;D
-
9 TA reviews - the verdict is in.
Well, in as in they range in title from "Amazing" to “Absolutely Disgusted!”
-
Tunbridge Wells at it again......
-

You can catch them on the main Dalaman road but they are pretty infrequent. We waited about 3/4hr last summer. Luckily it was quite a breezy day as there was little shade to be found.
-
My 2 friends have just cancelled their holiday to the Sensatori. They've paid a lot of money and are so disappointed by the problems highlighted on the Facebook page.
-
Shame Toky, but I think it not wise to book a brand new Hotel, best to wait until all the problems are ironed out first.
Hope they find something else, there is so much to choose from locally, at much cheaper prices. :)
-
I read the reviews on TA that poor woman and her baby nearly falling on the cncrete floor in the bathroom and part of the shower fell out that is bad...
-
I read that too Karen, what a carry on. They would have been far better in an Hotel in Calis or Fethiye.
-
And the toilet seat that creaked and moved when sat on
-
And how the loo or loo flush was propped up with a block of wood the whole stay of one couple, I'm curious now I'm going to look on Thompsons website and see how much they are charging for a week!
-
Wish I had not looked now I want to stay in a Sensatori! Does any one know if you can just book the hotel and arrange your own flights or does it have to be booked via Thompsons?
Hubby has a special burfdee next year the big six o and I think I'm gonna try to save up and book it for a suprise....
Adult only section the mind boggles (joking I am)!
-
Sensatori are Thomson's Resorts you have to book with them. I look at the one in Tenerife, worked out at £4,000 for two people for 10 days. Also, you have to pay extra for some of the restauants in these resorts.
Karen, you need to go to T.A. and read the review there.
-
Oh I see Jacqui I do admit I had never heard of these hotels before the Fethiye one was bring built!
Wow £4000 that is a lot, I shall carry on looking for "best price cheaper then chips" holiday :)
-
My loo seat screams when used....I don't pay silly money for the privilege of having an adventurous dump. ;D

On the thomson's site, one of the to dos is a visit to the week long Calis carnival ;D Could have a long wait for that one
-
I sent an Email to them asking if you can book to stay there without flights included as there is no option for room and AI only. The reply was from an auto service stating that my email is important to them and they should reply within 8 days. 4 days to go. :o
-
Good job you are getting such prompt service - imagine the wait if your email wasn't considered important to them!!
-
We will see in 4 days i won't hold my breath.
-
I am really at a loss to see why anyone would want to stay there?
-
Had a reply from thomson's and it confirms that you can not book to stay there unless it is done as a package including flights. So that means no one can stay there unless you are flown in by them.(Stupid or what) :o
-
I would stay not stupid... Thomson's know how to extract the last penny from Tourists and this is the best way to do it.
I think if I really wanted AI I would go for a place already set up, which has been getting good feedback for years. The Letoonia springs to mind. Lovely setting and IMHO a much nicer location than the Sensatori, which seems to be having a lot of teethig problems.
-
The problems they are having there seem horrendous. Someone is say their pedicure is the worst they've ever had and she's been left with aching feet as they've taken too much skin away. They are proudly advertising their Turkish bath for €39!!!!!! I wrote a post saying how much cheaper it was in the local area. I've read that an adult only hotel is going to be built next to Sensatori. Has anyone else heard/know of this?
-
I tried to recommend local places in Calis and I was banned from the Sensatori F.B. page. They do not want their customer leaving the place and spending money outside, They also do not want their customers to know that leaving the walls of the place will open their eyes to the real Turkey and not a manicured prison block.
I note on T.A. a really bad report from someone staying there and saying to others not to book the swim up rooms, as they swim up from nowhere, just a small body of water around the rooms that that you can swim around it. Hardly swim up IMHO. ;)
-
It's not a page run by the hotel Jacqui. I've recommended many places and I'm not banned :)
-
No it is run by a guy and a woman. She is a marketing director, he is a company director and they both say they run 6 F.B. pages out of the goodness of their hearts. However, note on T.A. he has been to a few of the Resorts. I wonder does he pay for his stays at them? It seems Sensatori may be very kind to people that help them.
I got a curt note from the lady who runs it as she would not allow me to to recommend other Hotels with Turkish Baths. She deleted that thread. I questioned this ,as surely if you have paid for the Sensatori you would not jump ship to another Hotel. I suppose she was afraid that if people saw the outside world they may not want to re-book a Sensatori and when I recommended Calis Beach and the restaurants I was banned. :o :o :o
-
Don't the owners of facebook pages earn commissions from the advertising which pops up ?..click on an advert and a pAyment is made. If so...must be making a fair whack.
-
Why would two people run 6 Facebook pages... I might add with no one allowed to put on anything that the F.B. pages owners do like on their pages and do it for free?? Without any benefits ??
Strange that the lady who runs it with an iron fist is a Marketing Director. A handy job.
-
I'm a bit cynical of them too when they say they don't work or are not connected to Thomson holidays. If that's the case. why are they sooooo informed and OTT pro Thomson on the group. She was very quick to jump in and respond to my post today about the price of local Turkish baths.
-
Oh just seen Ive been kicked off the group too!!!
-
Its located just front of the Günlükent sitesi where I live in summer time and if you visit this hotel you have to take Çiftlik or Günlükkent dolmuş services . I was told they are open now,and accepting bookings
-
But they're not accepting criticism. ;)
But welcome to the Forum dilaman. :)
