Mains drains

I have just been talking to a friend who owns a villa in Calis. She has been asked to pay £3,900 towards the cost of her house connecting to the main drains, there are 10 villas altogether and they are all paying an equal share of the costs. This seems very expensive (almost £40,000 in total) and odd that it's been priced in sterling. Has anyone else had to pay for this service recently and is this an average cost for this type of work? Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

We had ours done this year and it cost 1,600tl *(each)  There are four villas on our plot.

The sitesi across from us has been tied into the main sewers this year - the cost was 787 Lira for each of the 28 owners payable directly to the Belediyesi - the costs for internal pipework within the site and the removal of the existing soakaways was paid directly to the contractor, unsure of the costs there, but it was in the region of 200 lira each.

The EU grants were for the main sewage system not for individual houses being connected.

In Fethiye they were supposed to get two systems. One rain water and the second was sewage.

They decided that one would be enough as two systems was too expensive.

Hence, when it rains really hard the sh-t comes out of the breather holes in the manhole covers all down the high street.

This results in the locals blocking the manhole vents and leads to blockages.

Not everyone wants to be connected because of the price.

Had ours done earlier this year. To do this all our crazy paved driveway had to come up as well as part of the street so we thought we were quite lucky at £900.
