Health and safety assessment
« on: March 17, 2014, 10:25:11 AM »
I own an apartment on a small complex (10 apartments) we have been advised by our maintenance company that we must get an H&S assessment carried out. Cost 350TL, after which we must implement the recommendations. Has anybody else been informed about this? As a quick troll through the internet has not revealed anything.

Our maintenance provider told us a couple of weeks ago that there is an H&S team going around doing spot checks...however we got the impression it was the company who does the maintaining that is being checked and being held responsible.  Haven't heard anything else or seen any sign of this team though.

Our maintenance company said that H&S was becoming more important this year, but mainly regarding pools. They have told us that it is their own problem to keep the records of pool tests etc. At 350tl a throw, it sounds like a nice little earner!

the h/s risk assessment is to do with the maintenance companys work
force and because they worth on our complex's, we as sub employer have
to have the risk assessment done, And implement  the recommendations
look at www.ifer.com

I've heard a rumour that the new H&S rules will outlaw climbing up scaffolding made out of scraps of wood when wearing flip flops. Ridiculous I know, it's becoming a nanny state.

We are on a large complex (Sunset Beach) so the rules may be different - but many of our staff have had to take a H&S course in the last few months to comply with legislation.

In addition, for this season we now have to have the pools regularly tested and certified by an external lab.

Pah!! Nanny state I'll give you nanny state.  Next thing you know they'll stop me working off my metal ladder on the High Voltage Power, talk about joke next thing they will stop me taking the ladder to site on my scooter width ways across the front.

Funny when i was coming home from work tonight with my ladder, I told the missus all about it and she laughed so much she almost dropped the baby off the back of the scooter.  Good job the other kids were there to catch it.  Glad I didn't have my scooter lights on or someone might of seen it all...LOL

Perhaps the tear gas and rubber bullets are exempt from Turkish Health and Safety regulations.    ???
