Long duration Travel & UK Home (unoccupied) insurance
« on: January 14, 2019, 17:17:37 PM »
Being able to stay in Turkey longer also brings headaches and additional costs !

Liverpool Victoria does an annual travel policy at a reasonable price which covers holidays up to 90 days.        Has anybody found anything better  or companies who will cover even longer holidays for a sensible cost ?

The other headache is Home Insurance for your UK Property when you are away for long periods.  Many are 30 days or 45 days max unoccupied duration.  Liverpool Victoria covers 60 days.       Are there ant specialists who cover longer "vacations" ?

Thanks in anticipation :-)

We use Halifax for UK house, it comes with standard 30 day unoccupied but if you telephone them the day before leaving for holiday they will put it on extended cover and increase your monthly payments to suit, when you come back you phone them again and they revert payments back to normal.
Forgot to say, I think you have to have your insurance on direct debit to do this.
Hope this helps.

I just get my son to call and stay one night. I did find cover for 6 weeks the other year - through Meerkat. I'll try and find out what I can.

Check out M & S Home insurance - I'm pretty sure they have increased theirs to 90 days.
