ATM & Bureaux de Change - Hisaronu
« on: August 23, 2011, 19:10:51 PM »
Hi - Gill's daughter and her friend are staying in Hisaronu next week. We said it was best to put their combined spending money into her Nationwide Account - get Sterling out of a cash machine and change it to lira at an exchange (I remember one on the corner near the telephone booths)

Is there an ATM machine in Hisaronu  that gives out Sterling and which is the best place to change money as from memory there are no banks?

Ian  :)

The HSBC ATM in Hisaronu and we did manage to get sterling from the Garanti one but the HSBC was more reliable. There is also a HSBC bank in Fethiye and 2 ATM with Sterling.

Thanks Loz - the ATM is good news - as regards to the banks (2 x 20 yr olds) don;t fancy going to Fethiye but I don;t fancy them having too much money on them or in the hotel  :)

Hope you are both well?  :)

Ian check what type of Nationwide account she has. If it is not the full blown flexaccount(current account) then the card will not work in Turkey.

Savings accounts, such as cashbuilder, have cards but will only allow withdrawals in the UK.

There was in May.  The shop at the beginning of the shopping centre opposite the mosque tried to leave me 20 lira short.

We never used that change shop, but when we holidayed there, we used the PTT and never had a problem  :)
