I always used to suffer not only swollen ankles but also the legs too.I found the easiest way to get rid of it was to go straight into the water....pool or sea . It seems to equalise the water in the body and the swelling reduced within a few hours.

The flight swelling in our case tends to sort its self after a couple of days. We find after a Pide and a glass of Ayran, which we love, swelling can start again. Salt intake is a major factor other than underlying medical problems, ie kidney etc. pide Ayran white bread in general here has a higher salt content. Wholemeal bread fruit dairy products and water are good to help.

I usually get this after a long haul flight and not the shorts hops on european flights. Tried flight socks but find being barefoot on grass and scrunching your toes work.
