The best thing about this extraordinarily bloody Western film was the advertizing line: "They came too late; and they stayed too long". This sentiment now has a new application in the UK. The people at whom the finger is pointed is that evil gang who are bringing the nation's economy to its knees - PENSIONERS! The Labour party now says that pensioners with an income of over a notional level will lose their winter fuel allowance even though they have paid tax, probably much more than people below this earning level, to be entitled state pensioners. This will be added to all the other income deductions, most of them surreptitious, that have been applied over the the last few years. This will destroy the notion of contributory benefits; we all pay in and we are able entitled to draw out (a fine social/socialist principle). But it will save the country £100 million per year - or about the same as two bankers would earn as a bonus.

Next you will be visited customs and excise bailiffs who will demand you hand over your bus pass. Then you will invited to pay back your State Pension if you have a private pension - or else. After that you will lose your NHS number, and with it health care entitlement, because you are its most expensive consumers.

This is clearly the way to stimulate economic growth and rescue the fortunes of the UK. Or at least those of the Top 1% of wealthy individuals and the giant international corporations - who don't pay tax anyway and thus have nothing to do with our economic problems.
