Opening a CD-R

When I try to load a CD of photographs. it loads the first three then "sticks".

Any ideas on how to cure please.

A dab of Vaseline on it should do the trick.

The fourth photograph is the cause and is either corrupt or located in a faulty area on the disc. Open the CD with file manager and copy all the other photographs on to your PC hard drive. At this step you might discover other, later photographs cause the same problem.Try to copy the faulty photo(s) into the same area on the PC and if they copy ok then you can then transfer the lot out to a new CD. If it fails to copy then you can transfer everything but the faulty ones out to a new CD.

There is any amount of software available, most of it for free,  that can recover them (or so they distributers claim). Google "Recover corrupt photographs" to get a list.

One thing. You didn't say what player you were using. eg. laptop internal.
It's very common, for them to develop a fault simply through lack of use. I have had many laptops brought to me with this problem. The majority of laptop users never use the DVD drive. In fact with the more prolific use of "memory sticks" many laptops are being made without a drive altogether.
I have a good quality external drive, which I use for reinstalling systems etc.
It may be worth trying the CD in another drive before you presume it's faulty.
