We walked past this morning the Ballet part had gone, they were working hard on it.

I am quite proud that Fethiye, of all the places in Turkey, has invested in a memorial for Özgecan Aslan and that it was opened on International Women's Day.

The statue at the centre of the Memorial Park depicts a girl being lifted to the heavens by a phoenix. Özgecan's mother was in attendance and said a few words.

Nice post Nichola. It is a little ironic that people may be questioning what it has to do with Fethiye when the city itself is named after a famous Turk who had nothing to do with place.

Latest news on the statues of the dancers is that they were removed because they dwarfed the main memorial statue and another location will be found for them! So says the Mayor.
