I watched the opening ceremony last night/this morning, interspersed with the odd stint studying the back of my eyelids.

A brilliant display by the Brazilians at one fifth of the cost of our last one. All credit to them and I hope it's successful for

all the right people. May the others be caught.     ;)  ;)

What a fantastic effort from Team GB,  Gold medals coming in from all directions, records being broken daily,

second in the medals list, heroic efforts from GB contestants,          and not a word on the Forum.

Ah well i'm extremely proud of them.

Enjoying all of it and as much as I still don't think golf is a real Olympic event - well.... damn; Justin Rose brillliant!!

Our gymnasts - wow.

Cyclists - extra wow.

Rowers - ditto

For an insignificant, tiny rock way up in the North Atlantic, we're pretty blooming good at this stuff - even on a global scale.

China, Russia et al - take note -  we are Great Britain!

(Back into my quiet corner now).
