Letoon had many other attractions but I can't seem to remember what they were

Sadly it's true! During my recent stay Gul confirmed the demolition & rebuild plans to me, they are looking to double the accommodation by filling in the "gaps" (read that as walkway).

I have to say we had a fantastic break there, very well looked after, perfect breakfast every morning inc. decent coffee & of course lovely peace & quiet at night being away from the madding crowd.

I will miss the old girl but progress has to happen, in their defence the rooms defo need some much needed tlc, I'll post a pic of the roofs next to show that a rebuild is probably the best option!

I am totally biased of course but a refurbishment would have been perfectly possible albeit the rooms would have probably have to remain the same size.

What we will end up with is yet another soulless three storey block absolutely devoid of any character.

In my opinion, Calis will be the poorer for the loss of Letoon :(.

Supacabby - do you know if the pool and restaurant areas are going to be "saved".

Afaik John the rebuild is from the pool backwards (that's as I understood it anyway) with a refurb of the frontage & pool area, at least that would retain some of its character!

Heavy investment in the tourist industry seems to me a shade questionable in this present  unsettled climate. Next season is going to be interesting I fear.
