Recce Trip Booked!
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:19:33 AM »
Woohoo!

Booked my flight last night for a week at the end of October - coming over with two friends who also want to move out there and staying in Kayakoy.

Sadly Mr WB won't be coming with us due to other commitments here, but I've told him that obviously I won't enjoy myself at all, this is a serious research/information-gathering trip and not a holiday......  ;D  ;) ;D

Of course you wont enjoy yourself at all without Mr WB !!  :(   :)  :(

Have just left you a message on another post - Gunlukbasi is a great place to buy, everything within walking distance.  We have no regrets at all, after more than 6 years of owning an apartment there.  We are also over at the end of October, and you are welcome to come and have a look at our place to see what you can get for your money (ours is not for sale, by the way!), though I guess you will be looking at lots of different areas.  If we can help in any way, or answer any questions on maintenance, pros and cons of buying in a complex etc, please message me (though we must confess to not being know-it-alls and still have a lot to learn!)   :)

Enjoy your holiday; whoops, I mean your house search!   :)

Thanks guys.   :)

JulesBob, the more I learn about Gunlukbasi, the more I think I like it.
I think we are leaning towards renting to start with but I want to have a good look round the area while I'm there so I may well be in touch. Thank you so much.   :)

Really struggling to keep a lid on the excitement!

Do try to take some time out to enjoy yourself from what promises to be a very arduous research trip.

Gunlukbasi seems to top the poll for places to live in the region and I haven't spoken to anyone who had anything negative to say about it. It's a tad more lively than Kaya though .... :D

Yeah yeah, we believe you, of course it's only a recce trip, of course you won't be doing ANY holiday stuff. Seriously hope you have a great time and enjoy your trip, also wish you every success with your search for THE ideal place.

KKOB - staying at The Garden Lodge/Garden Apartment - haven't been there before but the friends I'm travelling with have stayed there for the past two years.

Make sure you try the Istanbul Restaurant, Sarnic, Levisi Gardens and the Villa Rhapsody. They all do great traditional Turkish food.

Another vote here for Gunlukbasi. We've had a place there for about seven years now and wouldn't have it any other way.
Enjoy your holiday errrrrrrrm recce trip and don't forget to let us know how you get on
