We went there once and that was enough. Not a "festival" as we know it .It was more like a get together for the villages and a concert on very late in the evening. A few food stalls ( pancakes etc) and believe it or not we had to search hard  for somewhere to buy cherries.Certainly not a memorable occasion but this was four years ago so might have improved.

If you do go be careful where you park the car. Hundreds of Turkish people arrive for the festival and it can be difficult to drive away because of the sheer numbers of people about.
Are Roy and Brian at the Village Garden still living in the village?

Thank you Philrose & Daffodil, mind you after the various comments/warnings I think we'll give it a miss and just buy the cherries from the local market.

Yes, that's what I'd do to. Went a few years ago, definatly more of a locals thing than a tourist thing..
