It could only happen in Turkey!
As people will know, Turkey has discussed for a number of years whether or not to put the clocks back 1 hour in the Autumn. Instead leaving the clocks set on Summer time all year round. Well, last week there was a discussion and vote in the Turkish parliament and they decided NOT to put the clocks FORWARD last weekend! They are going to keep the time in Turkey set on Winter time for a 12 month period as an experiment. The reasons cited were the size of the country and farmers in Eastern Turkey being disadvantaged by the ever changing times. There was also a discussion regarding breaking Turkey into 3 time zones, but that will be decided after this experiment.
Now the good bit! Because the decision was made on Friday it was too late to stop the clocks going forward on Saturday night/Sunday morning. As a result, the time will remain as it is until this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning when the clocks will have to go back again 1 hour to reset to Winter time. This will also mean a 3 hr time difference from here to the UK and will cause some travel confusion on the Saturday night.
As I say, only in Turkey!
The article can be found below, its in Turkish but Google translate will give you the gist of it. Good luck!
