Originally for grain storage but often used now for storing firewood. Some, along the Lycian Way, have been converted to accommodation for travellers.

They seem to have many uses then. I was told by a villager that these, just outside the village, were used to store household items over winter. Allegedly, old Kalkan families has places in Kalkan and also up in the yayla. They spend winter by the coast but those not working in tourism escape the summer heat by going up to the plateau. They store their summer stuff in these sheds before going back down in the autumn.

Let's try another one. Tinx' comment on killers reminded me of these {potentially} deadly things that I saw being cultivated on a coastal plain - but they can also be beneficial.

It would be just as well not to confuse this stuff with cannabis.

It mystified me when I first saw it, but someone pointed me in the right direction. It is Jimson Weed. It can de used as a "recreational drug" producing hallucinations and delirium or as a medicinal treatment for asthma. In either case just a slight overdose can be lethal. I trust it is being grown in Turkey for its medicinal properties.
