getting married.
« on: May 19, 2014, 18:12:40 PM »
Hi
Does anyone know the procedure for 2English people to marry in Turkey?

They are both in 20,s. Born in UK.
They are talking a very simple wedding maybe on a beach..6 or so guests including bride n groom.

What documentation is needed please.

Trying to avoid the whole wedding coordinator thing.

Thanks Berries

It used to be that the couple went to Antalya for all the documentation, but I have now read  it has all changed this year and the paperwork is done in Milton Keynes.
I would suggest you need to get someone in the know about the new system.

I have read a few posts on T.A. and even the people getting married this year are confused with the new paperwork procedure, particularly the couples who have booked weddings with T.Cook.....

Please use the link below to find out the procedure for Turkey
https://www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad

If in UK download the Affidavit form, complete at notary/solicitor in UK then post to FCO Legalisation office in Milton Keynes to be legalized. All documentation is complete before you leave the UK. You then need to take the Affidavit to the marriage office once you arrive in Turkey.
One note, it is better to print the Affidavit as a two sided document rather then two separate pages as they will need to be 'united' at the notary office which costs more.
