The change of a nation?
Turkish vice-PM Bülent Arinç spoke on the low standards of moral in Turkey yesterday. He pointed out the importance of good behaviour by men and women and said women should know that smiling in public was considered haram.
"where are our girls gone, blushing, bowing their heads and looking away from us when we look them in the eyes, the girls that became a symbol of our purity"
"Purity is so important. It's not only a word. It's an ornament for men and women. She has to be pure. So does he. He should not be a womanizer and should be true to his wife. He should love his children. The woman must know what is haram and what is not. She shall not smile in public. She shall not be inviting in her attitude and will protect her chastity."
It makes you wonder by which windmill Arinç got hit...
Erdogan's challenger for the upcoming elections Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu responded through Twitter saying "Turkey needs smiling women".
