TL 55 million for Erdoğan's campaignISTANBUL – Donations to Prime Minister Erdoğan's presidential campaign reached TL 55 million as of Aug. 7, while the other two candidates could muster only a few million TL at most during their donation drives.
Turkey is going to the ballot box to vote for the first directly-elected president in Turkey's history on Aug. 10. Meanwhile, citizens have been donating money to candidates' presidential campaign through a bank account since the beginning of the electoral campaign process. Erol Olçak, the president of Arter Agency, which is a company that carries out Erdoğan's presidential campaign, stated in a TV interview that as of Aug. 7, TL 55 million has been donated by 1,350,796 beneficiaries for Erdoğan's presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, it was announced 15 days ago that TL 2.1 million has been donated for the Republican People's Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) joint presidential candidate Ekmeleddin ihsanoğlu, whereas TL 1 million has been donated for pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş.
