Absolutely - and kept himself current throughout - he wasn't an old act limping on decade after decade. What a life - a total pro.

RIP Brucie.

A true entertainer who will be sadly missed.

Today's up and coming entertainers would do well to sit down and watch episodes of The Generation Game to see a man in total control of his craft.

R.I.P. Bruce :(

He may have been Britain's greatest ever entertainer but his death was only reported on page 25 of the Highland edition of The Press and Journal.   :)

Mind you it is alleged that their headline when the Titanic sank was "North East man dies in boating accident".   :)

You either loved or hated him, but he was always there.  I thought he was a true professional and a real gent. To have had all those years in showbiz showed how much he was valued.

When I was a child in the 50'sI saw him at the Palladium with Norman Wisdom when the TV studio staff were on strike. They did the whole show alone and it was brilliant. Their slapstick sketch as decorators was hilarious, but so clever. He was still so funny when he did the "Have I got news for you" years later in a completely different of comedy genre. Not many artists on can say they have lasted so long.
