After years of trial and error it seems we have finally managed to cured our major damp issues. This massive task took 6 weeks to complete and was carried out last year by Paul Cherry and his team from Villas 4 U.
Great communication and photographic evidence ever step of the way. If this doesn't fix the problem i can assure you nothing will. He has also carried out other jobs for us including roof and balcony repairs.
I would definitely recommend

So you don't know if it has yet? Or do you? If it 100% has I'm sure there will be lots of interested home owners.
-
What exactly did they do?
-
It's a secret process :D
-
Curry paste ?
-
totally agree with this post. lots of work done to a very high standard and he takes on board what u want. if not to ur satisfaction he will remedy same no problems. highly recommend.

Curry paste ?
Funnily enough, when I first spotted this thread I misread it as 'Major Dump issue cured' ;D ;D ;D
-
If it was 'major dump issue cured' I'd like to know how. Dumpers, including builders use the edge of the forrest opposite our villa to dump stuff - old carrier bags, plastic bottles, builders rubble - you name it. I've seen car drivers hurl rubbish out of their windows when they spot a pile on the roadside. Really hoping that the new pavements being built will cure the problem.

'Major Dump issue cured'
They've flattened Dalaman
-
Major Damp was a damn fine officer and his regiment is delighted that he has been cured.

What exactly did they do?
Well we had the whole of our downstairs floor removed. They dug down 1 metre to remove all the soil about 42 ton. They then tanked it with a german product and refilled it with waterproof concrete. floors and walls were then sealed with a waterproof resin, new floor screed. Floor was then retiled and the walls replastered and a guarantee to cover it. We have photos of each stage. I said it was a major job.
In the passed we have tried everything including injecting the walls and every year the damp has come back. So you can imagine how pleased I was when we went back to find no signs of damp what so ever.
Why they fill the pads with soil amases me..... We watched the new builds go up near us and although they used a a dampcourse they still filled the pad with what looked like soil. No surprise after six months the properties are already showing a salt lines on the walls inside and out.

Gosh a major undertaking, bet it wasnt cheap...Am glad it has resolved the problem
-
Not cheap but it was a lot less than we were expecting. If anyone wants to know feel free to contact me direct.
-
Can you let us know this time next year if damp camp.
Good luck hope you have found the cure.
-
I'm hoping I am right with "if damp came"....
-
Will definitely keep you all updated. One thing I would definitely say is don't bother with putting tash on the external wall. It will only make the damp worse.
The one thing i have learned is a good tradesman is only as good as the materials he uses. Far too many use cheap products that don't last or isn't correct for the job I.E we had a balcony redone and instead of sealing it proper products they used cheap stuff so within a season we had water come through and the lot had to be re done. Paying out twice for the same job isn't what i call cheap. but this time we used Paul and have no problems since. Plus the job is now guaranteed.
-
Pardon my ignorance please but, in this context, what is 'tash'?
-
I assume it is taş - Turkish for stone.
Assuming this has just been done, the title "Major Damp issue cured" does sound a little premature :D

We had it done years ago when it was recommended to hide the damp. Unfortunately it did the reverse. Although it looked ok it pushed the damp level above the stone work on the external wall and doubled the amount of damp inside the villa.
If you want to use the stone for cosmetic reasons it should be fine, but if you've got damp DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
-
I refer to the major works you have recently had done, not any use of stone. You posted that it had cured your damp, I wondered whether you should wait to see if that is correct before making such a claim.

Fair enough Scunner....Please feel free to change my thread name to "One year on and damp free" and I will give a yearly update.
-
I have followed this thread with interest, we don't have and never had the problem with damp, we have air bricks or vents like the UK. Where are these villas, what age are they and do your neighbours have the same problems?
-
I would say half of the properties are effected in some way, but not all. Our other villa near the Sunday market is damp free. Luck of the draw I guess, but dont assume because its a new build it'll be damp free. A lot depends on how they are built and the materials used I guess.

You omitted to mention the important fact which is when this work was carried out so the assumption was it had just happened. Hence my comment that it might be a little early to call it 'cured'. A year on damp free makes it more impressive and would have been worth mentioning in the opening post.
I have heard good things about Paul Cherry from several different sources.

I did mention it was done last year in my opening thread. I'm sure I did lol.
-
You did, I'm not questioning things for the sake of it, this is a major problem for some and a cure would be/is big progress. I remember the last guy, he came to see me with his magical injection system (which I told him wouldn't work, and it didn't). What I was driving at was exactly when it was done - last year could be 5 months ago and could be a year and a half ago. A full year of Calis torrential rain, punishing heat etc would be a decent period of time to judge it over.
-
Yes I see your point... It was completed in August. We know there was major rain during the winter and we only have to dig a foot done to see how high the water table is.....but thankfully so far everything is fine. No signs of any blow plaster what so ever. As i said I will keep regular updates as this problem effects so many people.
-
As promised just a quick update to say we've just got back from Calis and our villa is still bone dry with no signs of any damp. A massive thank you to Paul at villa4u

Can we please have this builders email.

I had that scammer do the injection system for me recommended by the old AA team,we paid almost £1k 8 years ago and got totally ripped off !
-
I wonder if he ever turned up again Steve - at the time he apparently did a runner to Bulgaria? He came to see me with his 'system'.
