My wife and I live in Vancouver, Canada. We'd like to come to the Calis Beach ??? ???area sometime this year. We'd prefer to come when it's relatively warm but when mosquitoes are least bothersome. (I get allergic reactions to mosquito bites.) When do you suggest? Or is there another spot on the Caribbean coast where mosquitoes are less bothersome?
Hoping to see you soon!

Stan, If you google Calis Beach it is on the west coast of Turkey not in the Caribbean.
Welcome to the forum.

Maybe he has already googled it, we all know how accurate google can be at times, take google translate for example 8)

I don't think we will see Stan again, unless we all go to the Caribbean for our holidays.

I've been thinking all day, I wonder why he thought it was in the Caribbean, or where in the Caribbean he was confusing it with. Perhaps we'll never know...
-
Perhaps he'll be back to say "Whoops, I meant Mediterranean". After all they are two seas with double letters in the middle that you have to think about. You can easily get confuddled over this.
-
Yes, I meant south west Mediterranean coast. When is the best time to come when mosquitoes are least bothersome?

Welcome to the forum guys - seas all sorted out now I'd suggest late season - September or October where the stagnant water they apparently like has been evaporated to death by the hot summer months. The mozzie problem is nothing like it once was, maybe development has helped.
It's not something I've really thought too much about - what do other members think the best months are when it comes to avoiding mosquitoes?
-
hi and welcome don't travel my boat haha

We've never been bothered by mozzies in the early months of April, May and mostly early June. However, as it has been said before on here, they (mozzies) are a bit selective; personally (and I may regret saying this) I'm obviously not that popular because I've only been bitten maybe 4-5 times in about 15 years. M rarely too ;)

Is it the case that there is a three week cycle (mozzies/no mozzies)
-
I would normally say May/early June are ok but last year they emerged in early May, due I think to the very mild 2012/2013 winter. September & October are a safe bet if you are considering a late holiday 8)
