I got a phone call yesterday to say a man was walking around our house with a tape measure, measuring up the size of the property!
Turns out he is from the Tapu office which is linked to one of the Ministries and they are "updating their records" and will be doing the same to all the properties in the area; not sure if that is everywhere around Fethiye but definitely in Ovacık.
I found it a little odd to be honest but wonder if they are looking for evidence of properties that have illegally extended beyond their % of permission to build re the size of the land and if so there may be consequences for those that have!

They were in Uzumlu before Christmas. Using GPS linked to theodolite measuring every property. Told us they were updating the village plan but I suspect some people may get a nasty letter sometime in the future.

This morning I have seen them in our neighbourhood measuring. They had a car with the licence plate '06 DR 3238' .

The car is registered in Ankara.

Could this be any thing to do with the increase in council tax as it is calculated on the property size...
Just wondered if many other members have encountered this at their properties?

I don't think so. There are easier ways to increase tax rather than having teams to measure the land. The taxation system bases on defined values of plot square meters that changes from area to area. Just increasing these values would be enough to collect more tax.
