After a fruitless search yesterday in Ciftlik for slimline Tonic. The search continues. If anyone has seen any in any shops from anywhere in the Fethiye area please let me know. I will be eternally grateful.
-
Give it up.. there ain't any. You should have brought some over.
-
Oh Jaquie luv. Have the full fat version, yer on yer bloody holidays. ;)
-
Cannot stand it, too sweet. No room in the cases when we came over. O.K. 100 Lira donation to the 3C's if anyone knows where I can get some.
-
My cupboard. Sorry though Jacqui, stocks will run out in approximately half an hour!
-
What a meany :)
-
Not Schweppes tonic but wasn't there a thread on here once before with someone, maybe you Jacqui that said they had found slimline tonic in one of the supermarkets possibly Migros.
-
I've never seen it anywhere. Isn't it strange? There are other diet drink products available?
-
No, have been to all the supermarkets, no luck. We had some last year in a small local market, but we bought all their supplies.
I cannot undertand why there is slimlne coke but no tonic, so many people drink this now and yet none of the restaurants or shops have it. Obviously, it is available if one local market had it. Why is Turkey so behind the times in getting this tonic in??
-
Have you tried Carrefour Calis road?
I'm sure I saw it there a while ago.
They had sugar free Sprite too, it was vile!
-
I'm like you Jacqui, cant take ordinary tonic, it kills me with heart burn, but not the slimline one. Happy hunting. xx
-
Jacqui is our pioneer to find diet tonic! No pressure! :D
-
We asked about the slimline version in I think it was The Rose or called be called The Summer Rose shop opposite Cafe Pazar I have a feeling he said he could order it in, the reason i say i think is we had been on the Efes so he may not have said that! If you are going to the market today it may be worth popping in and asking if that is doeable!

But that's not how it works UBT. Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps appeared (and soon disappeared) in Calis for around a week in 2004. Never seen again in all our years over there. Didn't stop me checking in every shop at ever opportunity for them for the entire remainder of our time living there though :)
-
Ha ha, did they wait for you to leave before they started stocking them again, Scunner?
I stockpiled a bit over summer as I'm told by a friend who has been here for some years that they'll vanish shortly for winter.
I'm a self-confessed crisp junkie. ;D

I always thought Ruffles we bought in Turkey were far better than the Walkers crisps.
-
Yes I agree but no salt & vinegar ones
-
You sure? I'd swear I had salt 'n vinegar ones.
On second thoughts, maybe it was Lays ?
-
Yes but not salt and vinegar ones :D
-
Definitely salt 'n vinegar. We used to buy them in the village shop in Kaya.
-
Yes that's one of the places I got them too :D
-
Went to Carrefour today, no Slimline tonic. However bargain in the towellng wraps to put around your head when you get out of the shower (not you Scunner). Around £4.00 in the U.K. 3.90TL in Carrefour.
Tried the Summer Rose Market, he said he could get some S.L.T. in 5 years. I asked him could I wait :)
The quest goes on.... :(

I have also had a fruitless search in Calis for slimline tonic. I remember once several years ago finding a bottle of shweppes sl tonic in a small supermarket in Olu Deniz, but have never seen any since. I usually drink sugar free sprite with my vodka but its not the same!!
-
Tried the Pork Shop today, and she showed us small tins of Britvic Tonic, but not slimline. I cannot understand if they can import this stuff why they cannot get the slimline.
If any business did manage to get it, they would be getting a lot of customers. Tried a gin and normal tonic last night, horrible...
-
It just occurred to me - has anyone checked out the new alcohol shop in Gunlukbasi? If it's designed to target ex-pats and tourists tastes, it might very well carry a selection of appropriate mixers. Just a thought.
-
Will go and have a look tomorrow. We passed it today, so know exactly the place... Thanks for the idea.
-
Went in alcohol shop last week didn't look at soft drinks but they have lovely bacon & sausage at a reasonable price
-
We went to the Alcohol Shop too, great selection of wines and lot of other beers and alcohol products. Loved the quirky floor when we came in, did not know if it was safe to walk on,very original.
He said he will contact his suppliers and see if he can get some Slimline Tonic. I have had some G.&.T's this week, but not enjoying them as much with the sugary tonic water.
-
Just been to Sainsburys and thought I'd cheer you up Jacqui!u ;) ;D

How cruet...really mean.... :)

I, too, have searched the shops for slimline tonic - with no success! If the Slcohol shop know there's a good demand, hopefully they can seek it out for us all.
Keep up the good work, Jacqui! (I'm in the UK at the moment.)
PS sometimes you can't even get ordinary tonic in Migros/Tansas, yet, seemingly, every other sort of fizzy drink!
