Hi,all . I don`t know weather it is just me ,but there seems to be a marked lack of postings on CBF. I know that due to the political situation the numbers of tourists are down but, there are a great deal of CBF lovers living there who could still enlighten us shivering souls about what is going on locally, such as developments at the shipyard, new hotels, and importantly the visual experience of current photographs which are sadly lacking. We need this imput to keep this excellent forum alive and the BEST !!

Maybe participating more (than your average of seven posts a year) yourself instead of complaining about others not posting could be a start...

First, to Highlander, you are distorting my original blog. I never suggested admin members make members blog, your sentiments not mine. Secondly,my reference to prols was meant in this context as prolific members, not members of Russian society. Thirdly, my limited number of blogs is determined by my lack of holidays to Turkey through cicumstances beyond my control. You cannot vacillate on ongoing events if you are not there. Having set the record straight, I would like to add that it is not my intention to upset anyone,just get the ball rolling and tongues wagging it would seem to this extent it has worked.

If you want some info about calis or surrounding areas..just say anyone got any pics or gossip and state the area you are interested in..someone will come along and post what you want..they are nice like that here.

Thank you Highlander, my original blog was not aimed at any admin but to all members to stir some enthusiasm. As to Bernie T, I would suggest he re-reads my last post more slowly, if he does not get it he might confer.

my question was keith. how many people on cbf actually live in calis. have not heard from ubt for over a year. maybe returned to the uk? prolific poster. des is just des. another prolific poster. posters who actually live here seem to be getting less and less.

In my opinion as long as the contributor has something informative to say, where they live is irrelevant but I have been reticent to participate as at times it feels like I would be entering a sparring match so I simply pick-up the relevant info I need and leave!!

It seems some people truly believe that their opinion, as an expat living there, is of greater value than the opinions of others.
This forum was set up by someone who didn’t live there and the membership was made up of hundreds of people, none of whom lived there.
It was never a forum for expats. It was and is a forum for anyone who has an interest in Calis and surrounding areas.

That's not very nice, is it? Having a dig at (potentially) someones lack of education or command of English is considered to be a pretty low blow, not just on here but in any online community. However, on the basis that you've made up a meaning for a word to suit your own purpose it suggests it may be the inverse, as in it's you that need to brush up on English

To be fair, I think we're seeing less of that attitude than we used to. Maybe something to do with the exodus over the past few years of folks heading for other countries and back to the UK resulting in far fewer members actually being resident full time in the Fethiye area.

I would agree we see less of it these days overall but would suggest that as the numbers reduce, the expats who exhibit this trait believe it more as they stay out longer.

Possibly. At least for the time being (thankfully) we have a good number of local residents who don't have that attitude and are just happy to help other members and participate without discriminating.

I have noticed an increased number of postings on CBF in relation to the reduced number of postings on CBF.

Just thought I would post........... ;) ;)I have been a resident here for 12yrs. Living here, shopping, cleaning, gardening, dog walking, bla bla, which I am sure is of no interest to anyone !!! If I can help anyone on here I will, if I can promote a local business which provides good service, I will. Very rarely recommend a restaurant, as what I consider good food, someone else will go and have a bad meal. If I have a grievance with anyone in Calis I take it up with personally, a rare instant here. If there is a new development in Calis, I will comment. I still check in every day to CBF, its a morning ritual!! Sorry if you think the posts are fewer, but as a full time resident, for me thats it!!!

Also now a full time resident (since April this year) & to busy enjoying my new life to post much but now I have a mobile (Samsung c6 didn't like swimming in the sea with me) I will try to update on my exploits & my gardening, damm the soil is hard to dig here, only just into October and seeing different peeps around, I think some expats hibernate a little during the high season.

I look at CBF most days, especially when I’m at home - it reminds me of great times spent in Calis (eight weeks this year!) and keeps me informed for my next visit.
However, I hardly post any more, because of the bickering and nasty insults that may be the consequence, of which I have been a victim.
Like my mother used to say, if you can’t say anything nice, cease and desist from pressing the Reply icon!

It's easy to make claims like this and get a handful of likes for your trouble, but please at least can you find examples and post them. I'll hang my head in shame if you do.

I have read the link that Scunner highlighted and must say iam bemused by Lindseymitchells view of innocuous posts between her and Scunner.
It would appear that thin skin with a sense of humour breakdown results in thinking someone called you a racist snob which is not the case at all!

My initial thought, after a quick look back at your posts, was the exact same as Keiths. Time, and a dodgy Spanish internet connection, precluded me from commenting at the time.
Nowhere could I see any evidence of the "nasty insults", unless of course you count being taken to task over making a sweeping generalisation about the integrity of folks who aren't native English speakers on Tripadvisor. I think you were a "victim" of your own views...

In general terms, CBF and TLF both have the same problems.
Firstly, Turkey is no longer the "hotspot" is used to be for both holidays and for buying property, therefore the number of new members is on the wane. The number of existing members deciding to purchase property is now minimal therefore all those "how do I?" and "where is?" and "who is?" questions don't get asked so much.
Secondly, social media has taken over for some as the chosen method of communcation and information gathering. Folks forget that on both CBF and TLF there is a wealth of information going back many years. Ok, a lot of it is out of date and of no relevance but a lot if it isn't. Social media, by its nature is temporary, the data on online forums isn't.
The bottom line is online forums will probably die out - how long that will take is purely down to the desire of the membership to keep it alive.

Having meet Lindsey, albeit it briefly on a only on a couple of occasions, I can say that she is a very nice person.
I think that what we have here is a classic example of an innocent remark being misconstrued and for whatever reason the whole business has escalated from there.
PS One other thing I think I may have learned about Lindsey is that she does need me to fight her corner.

So you agree that her claim to have been a "victim" of nasty remarks on CBF was untrue and uncalled for. There is a world of difference between "nasty remark" and "innocent remark being misconstrued".

Hi, all, I have just returned from a short break in Yorkshire. I am quite amazed at the vitriol since my blog. All I wanted to do was get tongues wagging, did not expect a tongue lashing! I had to respond having seen Highlanders last post, I hope he includes me in his remarks about innocent remarks taken out of context, however my original blog has indeed got things moving but not as expected. Lets put this theme to bed, and forgive and learn from experience!
