We only had 3 channels too winko, did your uncle tell you that? Also, and you will be shocked to hear this, if you wanted to change from one of those three channels to another, you had to get up and walk to the telly and press a button! :D

We had Redifusion and we did not have a remote, however, my Father invented the first one.  It was a long thin metal rod that he kept down the side of his chair and when he wanted to change one of the three channels he used his special "remote" which was just long enough to reach the T.V. if he held it out... I often think how dangerous that was...

Redifusion had a switch on the wall for changing the radio and tv channels, which my father had placed convieniently beside his chair.

Our Dad had remote control for the TV, it was called the kids,"change the channel will you", not a request.

My husband bought one of those VCR's when we first got married. He wouldn't show me how to set the timer on it though!! He reckoned that I would tape soaps and that would be a waste of tape! ;)
