Just for Info - received an email from Easyjet preparing for my flight in a couple weeks and it does state the following and give link to e-visa:
Apply for your Turkish Visa before you travel.  Things you need to know before applying:
• Nationals of 94 countries are able to apply and buy a Turkish Visa online
• You must have a minimum of 6 months validity on your passport
• You must have made a flight booking
• You must have a valid Visa or MasterCard credit card
To apply, please go to the Republic of Turkey’s Electronic Visa Application System website

If someone is cruising and the ship docks at Kusadasi for an excursion, say, to Ephesus, is a visa still required?

As long as you do not intend to leave the port of call. If a trip docks in Fethiye and you fancy going to say, Marmaris. A visa is required.

Just done e-Visas for two friends who are coming out in May.  As people have said, relatively easy and quite quick.  However, the Visa makes no reference to the Shengen rules and method of calculation from date of departure.  People who don't use forums could very easily be caught out and be liable to a fine and perhaps a ban.

I wonder if they will have someone at the airport doing the input for the e-Visas for people who have not obtained prior to arrival - can you imagine the chaos  if not.

I thought this had been changed again and you could pay £10 on arrival as usual?

SteveA - there were definitely people buying their visa as usual when we came through Antalya just over a week ago. But it is also rather confusing as to whether this will in fact be a facility you can use after April as the information keeps changing.

Perhaps it is better to err on the side of caution and purchase your visas online.
