......if you can take dogs on the dolmuş?

Going to visit the lovely Menthol and Slikmrs in Ovacik but we'd like to take puppy with us if possible to avoid having to rush back.

Ta.

I would love to know, I have asked this question several times and I get told that it's down to the individual drivers whether they let you on with a dog. It's not much help when you want to plan a trip with your dog is it? I wish there was a rule yes or no

I have seen a few small dogs, but in pet carriers.  When we had our old Labrador, it was a definite no!!

Agreed Susiepink!
I guess we'll just have to take her and hope for the best. It's only from Kaya so not a long journey.
She's only small, maybe I can stick her in my handbag....  ;D

We've taken ours on the dolmus from Olu to Hisaronu after a walk with the Kismet group. Most of the passengers were English and didnt bat an eyelid.
Another time we went from Yaniklar back to our car after a walk and it was full of villagers, so we sat at the back with Honey safely by our feet and no one took any notice.
We often get tooted to see if we want to get in when we've got Honey with us, so assume it's ok but have always felt it isn't...
So, maybe it's down to the individual driver, or maybe it's ok but just something Turkish people wouldn't do as their dogs generally live in the garden.

My worry is more that a lot of Turkish people are scared of dogs, so it just doesn't feel very fair.

As it's a puppy I would be inclined to carry it and keep it away from the other passengers and don't think there will be a problem.
Going to Ovacik will be mostly tourists who will probably all just want to play with the puppy.

It depends entirely on the driver. The dolmus drivers on the Tasyaka, Ovacik, Hisaronu, Oludeniz, Kaya routes are more likely to allow dogs because they're used to the crazy expats and tourists. We've seen lots of dogs on various dolmuses in the past.

Thanks guys.
As we're on the right route, KKOB, we might be lucky....I will report back in due course.
Won't be just yet though as we've realised pup's not had her second vaccinations so we can't take her out freely for a while longer.
Think she'll be glad to get out and so will we!

We are often surprised how hesitant Turkish people can be with dogs, especially children.  Don't be surprised, therefore, if fellow passengers look somewhat taken aback.
