« on: May 13, 2016, 15:11:27 PM »
Had a lovely meal in the Grapefruit restaurant upstairs at the Letoon Hotel last night. It must have one of the best views in Calis. Pity we were the only ones there. It is worth a try.

Definitely the best view in Calis.

Was the hotel open as well as the restaurant.

We saw people going about yesterday but not many. The head waiter told us there were bookings for June. They have a notice outside saying it is allright for non residents to use their pool.

Yes, we had lunch on there a few days ago and he told us we could use the pool if we wanted. We were the only ones having lunch. So sad to see everywhere so quiet  :(

Is it quiet everywhere then? I thought the planes were full and business as usual in Calis/Fethiye?

Quiet everywhere Scunner. Most of the hotels have literally 10/20 guests from the people we've spoken to and in our hotel too. We've been here nearly two weeks now and thought it would have started picking up by now but not much sign yet. A lot of people seriously worried how they'll get through the season if things don't pick up soon. People very angry too at the bad press Turkey gets compared to other places and say it needs people like us to go home and tell everyone it's safe to come here, wish it was that simple! We've loved our two weeks here and will come back later in the year if we can, hope things pick up soon.

Think there are always a few bars/restaurants that are going to be popular with regulars. Seems like it's the hotels/shops that are suffering most.

The Nil bar was also busy when we were there, never see it empty of an evening  to be honest...
I think that is also where a lot of expats tend to congregate as in like at home having a ' local' so is busy but not neccessarily tourists...Meri Bar was also busy of an evening.
Went to the Curry Palace which first visit had all of three tables outside the first time but then lots more second time.
Time i came home the Pelin still looked shut normally thats defo open by end April.
My friend was staying at Rebin Beach and was the only Brit there others were German five people at that point staying there, not sure if any busier now!
We also spoke to some business owners who are angry at the British media and who can blame them to be honest...

Dont blame the british media. What have the Turkish tourist board done about it?  BUGGER ALL.   And what has this got to do with original topic?
