Has anyone tried the sausages or know if the business is still operating?
-
Yes the business is doing very well, we went up there this morning as they are re-homing a puppy for us :)
They are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays
and if its ok with keith I would like to put a small price list on here :) with contact details :) ;)
-
if its ok with Keith I would like this too :D
-
And me :) Is it a shop premises he has and could we also have some directions please?
-
No not a shop as such but a building near his house that has been purpose built as a sausage factory with further plans for a smokery:P
You just need to find the museum/cafe in Kargi its just passed there on the left, dirt track down to the building about 100 metres or so.
This is the building you are looking for...

Makes one wonder if the Turkish Food Police will be as fussy when it comes down to checking out the sanitary and health implications in relation to this outfit??
I don't think that many long-term Forum Members will ever forget the bloody ridiculous rollercoaster ride that the wonderful Lesley & Steve were subjected to.
This just looks, (from the photo at least),as if he has decided to create a "cottage industry" type business, has hooked into the British "Taste of Home" fascination, & stuck a shed onto the side of his house.
I daresay that I will get flak for writing this, from Turks & Brits alike, but, you know what, I don't give a T**S!!
I think that someone has to stand up & be counted, & if none of you have the balls to do it, I certainly have!!!! [:(!][:(!]
Gordy.
-
No flak from me, I agree 100%.
-
Thanks Boss, at least the couple I mentioned may NOW find out just who there REAL friends are/were.
Gordy.
-
Well I don't think you can go as far as saying that people shouldn't buy from this guy, it's hardly his fault about Steve & Lesley - but it really highlights the completely opposite ways a Turkish business is treated compared with a British one. That is simply unforgivable.
-
Gorden i salute you. :)
-
That whole building is the sausage factory, his house is not in sight, and the sanitary conditions there are exceptional, bit of an unfair comment from Gorden me thinks 8)
-
Keith, I never for one moment, suggested that people should not buy from this establishment. In fact, I hope he is very successful, I love sausages!!
Tinkerman, judging by your post, it seems to me that you were not aware of all the hoops that "Sausage Lady" Lesley and Steve had to jump through in order to be allowed to make fantastic products, only to have to meet another, "dreamed up" requirement, by the authorities. I wonder if this chappie has to display labels on EVERY single pack of product, printed, NOT written by hand, declaring; date of manufacture, weight, best before, & what that particular sausage etc. consists of.
Not an unfair comment at all, in my mind!![:(!][:(!]

Friends went there for a sausage tasting for our bangers and mash night, the place is spotless, completely hygeinic, they had to wear plastic covers on their shoes etc
His sausages, especially the chicken and lamb, are lovely and he really deserves to do well
-
Super guy and exceptional products - highly recommended ..... Sakir will also give his advice on how best to cook his products to produce the best, tastiest results ... :)
-
Really yummy, several of us descended on him during the Wednesday walk, and he gave us samples to try.
The sausages are lovely, also bought some sandwich slicing chicken, unfortunately a big group had been before us and bought all the pate which is really delicious.
Super friendly guy, wish him all the best

I agree with Andy the place is spotless far better than a lot of English butchers i know ,and yes a very unfair comment coming from someone who has never been there ,all the things i have tried were very very good ,give the bloke a chance . he can do without people like you when he is just opening up a buiness.
-
We went up there again today to check on Bob the dog they adopted, he is doing really well and the owners are very happy with him :)
We also bought some more Sausages as the last lot were lovely:P we also bought some Liver Pate which has been reccomended but we have yet to try that yet:P
While we were there several local germans turned up and we sat together testing tasting the sausages 8) 8):P

Dont know about what "Sausage Lady" Lesley was asked to do with their business and I am sure it was extensive and deliberately problematic but ........... is labelling every packet with contents, use by date etc not standard anyway when you are making food produce and kind of makes sense to print it rather than have it hand written.
