complex bar closures
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:08:01 AM »
we have heard that all apartment and villa complexes that serve food and alcohol have been ordered to close.
Apparently this is to force tourists to use the hotels and bars that are suffering from lack of buisness.
Also this supposed to happen after byram this week.I dont know if its true as gossip tends to be rife around here. Can anyone clarify if its true.
Thanks

Yes Helen it is true and apparently has resulted from complaints. We would love to know who the complainants are and do some real boycotting[:(!]

This will surely be catastrophic for these places. :o This takes away people's choices and will cause a lot of grief to a lot of people. I hope they find a way around this daft ruling.

I suppose then that there will be a reduction in their maintenance payments? No chance.

Not sure who this is unfare to really.Yes the owners of the apartments/villas may find their maintenance increasing as a result. But if these venues are unlicenced for the sale of food and drink etc, they are undercutting the competition, would you not say unfairly?.If the people running them are avoiding kdv,or any sort of tax we will all suffer due to increased prices at regulated premises.Turkey allready struggles to collect taxes is it suggested we avoid the regs as well?

Not a reduction mercury, more likely an increase due to loss of the profit from these little bars.

CaptainJohn
I am one of those owners and can assure you it is all run legally.
Please do not come on here and state otherwise without knowing all the facts involved.
Seems to me you have to much to say in matters whch don't concern you

To further Anne's comments we DO NOT undercut anybody. If anything it's to the contary. Everything passing through our bar is purchased through local wholesalers at local prices.
I have the odd sarnie or omelette in our bar so when I can't will I trot of down to Calis [?], No I'll make it in my apartment and now probably do it sometimes when I would have gone to Calis before[:(!]
