Best Indian food ever is now at Calis Beach Restaurant
« on: May 02, 2013, 07:49:35 AM »
Finally Hulki has taken the plunge and has opened his very own Indian Restaurant.

The opening night on 26th April was buzzing.  The food was delicious and the atmosphere was electric.

I highly recommend a visit.

What makes the food better there now? I hope it is a vast improvement on the old Bombay corner What a dreadful place that was.Of course I am sure many liked it but it was not for me.I love a good curry and had to go up to blackpool Turkey style so I will  look forward to trying it now in calis..

Shine in Hisaronu was worth the trip once a year when you just needed something curryish but people must be deluding themselves to say these places are "authentic" or even more far fetched "the best Indian I've had".

They are at best on par with a jar of Loyd Grosman's (which rumour has it some of them are  ;) ) If I've been to 100 Indian restaurants in the UK, Shine, while satisfying a basic pang annually, comes in as the 101st best.

My daughter said they had a really nice Indian meal at the Bambu this week.  I remember us having an Indian there last year and it was very good.

My daughter is a veggie, so perhaps that makes a difference.  However, we where a party of about 15 last year and have to say the Indian meal was lovely in Bambu.. Everyone said so, and the party contained Irish, English, Scottish, Nigerian and Maltese...So a big variety of nationalities but all complemented the meals.  ;D

Reminds me of the guy that comes into our place at work - he wouldn't go back to Portugal because he hated the foreign food. Told me he couldn't get a decent Chinese or Indian anywhere.

Bambu perhaps should get the title this topic has been given then.

Nice to see Harley back by the way, she comes back once every two years to plug one of her mates.
