I always wonder why the ex-pats get so irritated and annoyed when anyone mentions anywhere else but Calis on this Forum?

Do they though ?

Will only have fish and chips if someone does Haddock.  Cod, IMHO has a very strong taste.  However, I know it is what is served in the Chippers in England, so it should be very popular in Calis and perhaps more so than Vietnamese catfish?
I have read in the past that Whiting (Mezigit) is the fish that is used most for fish and chips in the Calis/Fethiye area.

Jacqui, the best chipper award last year went to a chip shop in Brae in Shetlands, I think it is called Frankies, we passed it last month whilst stuck in Shetlands waiting to go offshore. if I remember correctly Zanres did win it one year.

First visit to Charcoal palace today and we,ll be going again probably early next week, when I can get fish, chips peas and homemade tartar sauce like they served us today the chip pan is redundant at our house.  Will certainly recommend them to friends and they are such a lovely family too

We always have a beer next to the duck pond when we go over. However be careful around dusk because the midges are a damn nuisance. I think we got bitten by them more than mozzies this year.

Took my friend to the Charcoal Palace last night for the fish and chips and she gave them a 10 out of 10.Praise indeed.Staff were very attentive and friendly and service was good.Unfortunately I couldnt taste the fish as am gluten intolerant but they made sure the rice with my chicken curry didnt have the small wheat flakes in it.Huge plateful and couldnt eat it all.The chips were delicious too..Wish this lovely family all the very best in their new business
